When building a one off custom car, does anyone know of the height they must be installed to pass safety inspections? I have spent @ 2 hrs looking and cant find any specs on them other than there must be two unless it's a motocycle. :dontknow:

i dont think it matters does it. what if your building a 4 wheel drive that sits higher or a lowered vehicle that drags the ground. i dont think there is a set standard...could be wrong though.

Actually I think there is a min and a max height. It may vary by state so you should concentrate on the state you're building it in. There's got to be some DMV rules or inspection guildlines on line somewhere...maybe you could ask someone that does state inspections (if your state requires them).

Call your local Highway Patrol, Or State trooper. They know what it is.:D

Funny one there. I searched the nc dmv and the nc state regulations and they all say the same, just no info for height. Had a search that listed the Federal guidelines section 108 but still no d@~n height.

Here's what I found for headlight specs and vehicle heights. Not sure if the vehicle height law (3rd link) applies if you're building something custom one off. For this one I would check with a reputable and knowledgable shop on light heights or maybe the State Police can help. BTW, does NC have a bicycle racing problem on the streets and highways? The 4th link struck me as being odd :dontknow:

Yes Sir, I found that page. I was referring to the height of the headlights when installing them on a custom auto not the ride height. Thanks for your help!
