Help adding thermostat control to fan mod!

I did the manual fan mod and it works great. What I want to do now is add a thermostat to control it. The wiring part I understand.

The part I need help with is a point I can install the sending unit. The units all come with a 3/8 -18 NPT thread. I can install a T at the stock sending unit, but is there any other options?

Now I want to add a thermostat to the wire circuit, so when it is activated it will come on at 185 and stop at 170.

What I need is a place to add it in to the system. My best idea so far is to add it inline to the heater hose going to the oil cooler.
