High Oil Pressure?

I noticed driving to work that my oil pressure gauge is reading max (100 PSI)...what is the problem?

2005 RC 80K. Checked oil level and it is ok or a bit low.

If it was mine I would first verify the reading by testing the pressure from the block....could just be the gauge or sender...

sounds like its pegged/grounded out.

sensor is the most common. possibile wirin prob.

does it go to zero with key off???

does it go to 100 with just turnin the key on???

just checked...

when the key is turned to the on position (engine not running) the gauge reads 48 PSI.

the gauge goes to zero when in off position.

i'm bettin sensor.

a few have had gauge probs also.

can ya unplug at the sensor & see how the gauge does then????

Yup likely the oil pressure sender. Do like ZCX said and unplug it then see reading.
