Hey guys,

I got the factory amplifer and subwoofer out of a SRT in my Daytona. Everything works good, sounds good. But I notice the amp got pretty hot (hot enough that I couldn't touch if for more than 1 sec)

Is this normal for these amps?

With my electrical / computer background, if the power supply / amp is getting THAT hot then there is a problem somewhere. They can get warm to the touch but if it is so hot you can't touch it then you have a problem.

There could be a resistor or capacitor going bad and that can be a BAD thing leading to FIRE. Get it checked out.

So this is my theory so far? Any other input?

There were 4 connections I had to make

1. ACC wire - no problem
2. Constant 12V - no problem
3. Ground - no problem
4. Signal wires - possible issue

According to the wiring diagrams, the sub amp normally gets it's signal from the amplifier in the glove box. I couldn't add pins to the harness that plugs in the glove box amp, so I ran a set of wires from one of the front door speakers to the sub amp to give it it's signal.

Should this work? Or is it possible that sending the signal from the front door speakers (already amplified) is whats causing the amp to overheat?
