Hey folks, i'm in the middle of installing a AEM meter and i need some help :D :D

I took a picture of some wires i plan to splice into. But i need some
help identifying what colors mean what..

:dontknow:

Also, the AEM fits pretty snug in the upper pod but the stock oil temp gauge
is somewhat loose.. how could i go about securing it in place? The stock
holder isn't really an option as it takes four screws and is just odd :dontknow:
Also, would i damage the gauge if i didn't connect the actual sensor until
later but applied power to the gauge now?

What's the best way of routing the wire to the outside of the vehicle? It
looks like i need to take the dash apart but Tony told me i didn't have to? :dontknow: :D :D

Regarding the routing to the outside...behind your foot pedals is a rubber plug...this is an access to the engine compartment through the firewall, and it can be used to route wires.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the heads up Roy, i forgot to mention that i deleted my cats
have mechanical sims in place.. If i install this o2 sensor for the gauge
should i also get a mechanical sim or just install the sensor without one?

Well i wired up the gauge! here are some pictures of my handy work ;)

I'm trying to keep the oil temp gauge from moving around but the mounts
won't fit/work.. any suggestions?

on one of my gauges they came with a black band around it about 1/4" wide that was used to tighten up the gauge in the hole. You might be able to use a wide rubber band.

Thanks Paul, worked like a charm! on another note, how far down
does the bung need to be installed? and at what angle? do you think the
exhaust needs to come out?

Bung needs to enter so as to not have condensation reside in the sensor. Are you not just using the existing rear bung? Not sure about the '05, but on the '04 I just strapped the rear 02 sensor to the frame and used the bung for the air/fuel sensor. '04's do not throw a code with the rear sensor strapped to the frame...they like the clean air! Not sure about the 05-06's.

:dontknow: As far as i know there's only two bungs on my exhaust,
passenger side and drivers side. I've replaced the entire exhaust with
aftermarket B&B/magnaflow stuff. So i can understand the angle in which
it needs to be installed but does the sensor need a mechanical sim or
can i just put it in?

I think there are two more sensors just after the collectors in your headers, then two more aft of those...unless B&B assumes that the pcm will be altered to allow for the absence of the rear 02 sensors.

Can't check...my truck is in the hospital.

Roy, you won the prize good sir.. There are four o2 sensors plugged into
my exhaust two are behind the collection pipe and two more are on the
midpipes. I plan to install this behind the second o2 sensor on the drivers
side.. That should be ok right?

Put it on the same side as cylander #3. reason being that cylander seems to be the one to go boom most often, and making sure that side is running correct would be most beneficial. i BELIEVE its the passenger side but check again to be sure.

Drive your truck with the drivers side 02 sensor strapped to the frame or transmission for at least 50 or more miles. If you don't get a CEL then just use the existing rear bung and make sure the 02 sensor is strapped in place firmly.

If you want to put the extra bung on for the new meter, use the same angle as the existing one. I have had mine just strapped to the frame for three years and no CEL...but the cpm may have been changed with the '05 and '06.

cool, i'll try to pull the o2 sensor for the #3 side and see what happens.
Do i leave my mechanical sim in place or should i take it out for this sensor?

Leave the SIM on the 02 sensor...it will help to keep splash from getting on it. Put your meter sensor in the rear bung...I am not sure that this works on an 05...but you will know that it doesn't if after 30 or 40 miles the CEL comes on.

To get rid of the CEL, disconnect the negative terminal of the batt for 10 or 15 minutes (re-boots the cpm) then put your 02 sensor back in the bung and install your additional bung for the meter.

Well, i went ahead and took out the rear o2 sensor and put my a/f sensor
in it's place. Unfortunately the sim won't work with the new sensor because
the new sensor has a larger diameter than my old one. So anyways, i put
the new sensor in the rear bung and hooked it all up. While i was driving
the gauge was displaying anywhere between 14 and over 18 for my a/f ratio.
Is that normal? Also, under WOT i got anywhere between 11 and 13.
But i drove about 75 miles today and didn't get a CEL  so no welding required!
Also, the numbers might be off because i have a leaking flange gasket but
i don't think they should be that high regardless? :dontknow:

i just need to knoww which wwires to connect together. i have the same 4 wires with the same aem gauge.
