Hey...gotta extend a big thank you to the members on this board and here is why.
Before I did my first oil change on my truck, I researched this board to see what brand of oil everyone was using. In one of the posts that came up for my search, there was a very small, but extremly important little detail that I was made aware of when changing the oil filter. "Watch out for the oil filter gasket remaining on the oil pump"!!!!
Unscrewed the old oil filter and right as I was about to screw the new filter on, I remembered what this forum warned me about...took a good hard look up at the mating surface of the oil pump, and sure enough...there was the old oil filter gasket still sitting on the pump. Ha!
You guys saved my bacon, and saved me from a world of a mess on my driveway and all up under the chassis of the truck. :elefant:
A big thanks for sharing your experiences with everyone!
