Can these be mated to a gear vendors box?
What amount of HP & TQ can that handle?
Can it be used for daily driving?

If these wont work, what can be used in a heavy vehicle behind a big engine with loads of hp/tq? (say 5000# and larger than 500ci)

Thanks!

A turbo 400 can handle a LOT of power, they can be made totally bullet proof and I believe that Gear Vendors makes a box for them...they'd be stupid not to.

You bet.

I have two on hand, in fact. Both were built for racing. One was built to handle a 700+ CID engine on three stages of nitrous.

I'd say they can be made to be up to the task.;)

yeah they can man, they can also support a ton of power. As a matter of fact someone is selling a fairly new but used on in Orange county craiglist in California. Selling it for $1,500 i beleive

Actually, the El Camino had a 'Glide.

These two were candidates for the '36 Studebaker project.

At least one of these transmissions is available.;)

The other I might want to keep if I can't keep a clutch in the 10.

Careful Eric. Some of the RC guys are elitist and will think less of you if you go with an automatic. Somehow shifting gives them a since of manhood. Maybe a bit of stick envy :dontknow:

what does this ;) mean???:D
I need one to handle 800hp on a daily basis, but be able to hold 1000-1200 a few ties a year.:D

The ";)" means I'm considering keeping one of the TH400's and putting it to work in my truck.

I have a Coan-built TH400 and converter that are up to your needs. I can look into which series it was, but it has a manual valve body (it's a manual automatic, in other words) and a trans brake.

PM me if you're interested.

I could use the cash to finish paying off the Procharger system.:D

Don't have a SRT, but just thought I'd throw in I just swapped to a TH400 in my Silverado and am loving it so far. Kind of sucks not having overdrive, but it should be bullet proof. I burnt the clutches up in three built 4l65e transmissions in less than three months. So something had to be changed. Hopefully I'm done swapping transmissions. But yes, Gear Vendors makes a Th400 unit capable of 1200hp or some such thing.
