truck using oil

is it normal for our trucks to use oil?
my truck has 40000 miles on it and
there isn't a leak any where.

my next question is i am replacing my clutch,
master and slave cylinder and getting the flywheel
resurfaced,should i get them balanced or does it really
matter?

Don't know of anyone else that has gone through balancing...they should be good to go out of the box.

Some use of oil is normal...especially at 40K...IMO.

May want to opt for a new flywheel, lightweight aluminum!! Fidanza or Centerforce both make them!!

Mine doesnt use oil, just top off the crank case with Jack Daniels :dontknow:

We had a recent thread exploring this very question. It seemed to me the answers were all over the map, from very little to disturbingly (is that a word?) high. There is an internal memo that DC states "normal" oil consumption is a qt for every 750-1000 mi depending on vehicle mileage. As a forum, however, we did not come together on a consesus as to what constitutes "normal" oil consumption. There are other factors like driving styles, length of trips, etc. that will have an impact on oil consumption. For what it's worth (2 cents?) I believe the DC memo constitutes abnormally high oil consumption. If you follow their thinking, you will replace three qts of oil between oil changes.:dontknow:

I though you can't have the flywheel resurfaced because you can't adjust the clutch travel?
