RB1 is a DVD based system while the RB4 is CD based. The RB1 has a larger, more user friendly display than the RB4. They also require different nav antennas.

Here is the kicker -- the RB1 has analog output while the RB4 is digital. This means that the RB1 will not work with the RB4 amps and vice-versa. There could also be an impedence difference with the speakers that could lead to poor sound/premature failure.

I found this out the hard way -- I plugged an RB1 in place of my RB4 and it functioned fine but there was no sound.
