Header gasket, ever blow one?

Now if this was in the offensive section it could mean something different...

So I thought I did something REALLY bad to my truck today, but early diagnosis is I blew my header gasket. Have a tick and really bad sound taking off and @ idle. This happend after a WOT run... downshift to 2nd @ 55ish and through 3/4 of 3rd.

Right now I am counting my blessings. I guess I will be waiting for a few days to get a new gasket to know for sure but plan to pull the header tomorrow and inspect the old one.

I have and still do once and a while on my 85. Are you using stage 8 fasteners? If not maybe try them I have them on my Srt and never had an issue yet.

I am not. Where did you get them? Did not know what they were until I just looked them up. Although I will say my bolts do not seem loose.

use oem gaskets ohio, they will work better then most

I think I did hear that once, but when I put on my Belangers I just threw on the ones that came with them rather than go buy new.

Well, I now know why the gaskets that come with the Belangers are no good. They get VERY brittle. It broke a in a few places taking it out, but this piece was completely gone (blown out during WOT).

went with Cometic MLS gaskets & Totally Stainless header lock bolts. no probs.

Cometic "EXHAUST" gaskets, C5865-030 shows to be $33.47 probably each. total $66.94

&

the Totally Stainless Total-Loc header bolts, #6-6950,10 count @ $45.40 x2 total $90.80
