I am getting a very high pitched (sounds metal on metal) squeel... at first I thought it was coming from the power train but now i think it's coming from the front right tire. I took the wheel off and checked everything and everything seems fine. Couldnt take the pads out didn't have the right tools with me. Pried the pads off the rotors, looked clean no rocks or anything. Wheel bearing seems fine... I don't know what else it could be?? It only happens around 10-40 MPH... makes a hell of a noise. Doesn't go with RPM and doesn't seem like it goes with rotation of the tires either. Only squeels for about 4 seconds max, so hard to tell..

Ideas!??

Pig in the bed? :dontknow:

Seriously though. Some people have had a problem with locked up calipers. Some have also already replaced wheel bearings.
Maybe it is coming from one of the others you didn't check. You said at first it seemed like it was powertrain related. What made you change and think it was with the front wheel?

raise the front with the parking brake on....try to spin the front tire to make sure its free of bind....also check your ball joints but checking up/down and side to side play....after that i would have someone sit in the front seat and lightly apply brake while your spinning it to make sure the caliper unlocks correctly right after they release the brakes......other than that remove tires and do a good visual inspection of everything

I had a passenger listen out the window they figured it was from the right front tire. He was sure it was a rock stuck in the caliper or pads. It's tough to tell if it stops when its out of gear as it comes and goes so fast. What in the powertrain could it be? Doesn't sound like the belt...

And how much drag should there be when turning the front wheels. Have a little bit of rubbing from the pads but everything seems okay visually.

hte pads some drag lightly but the tire should still spin freely..... I know its kinda a shotgun blast but jsut inspect everything that you can while thinking about when and what you were doing when you heard the noise and try to eliminate things.....its kinda hard for us to help you pin point stuff as you may hear something different then we would if we were actually there.....

if it sounds like it's metal to metal and squeal you would think it would be something that rotates so start by checking everything that spins...... dont just focus on just the noise coming from the tire....noises can bounce off the ground and the sound could be actually coming from something else......check belts, driveshaft, tires, rotors/caliper & pads transmission area and everything close around these items that could possibly touch them.....

I just took a video. It's from the front right tire. This will probably explain better then anything. I'll upload after I give the truck a bath. Thanks guys

The idler pully has also been know to be a problem

Have you had the front bearing recall replacement done?? When I got my truck, first thing I did was stop by the dealership and check for open recalls, '06, there is one for the front wheel bearings....

When I had mine across the border all recalls were done... not sure what ones.

Here are the vids... i think it's the wheel bearing?? 400 bucks at the stealership for just parts. Bearing and assembly.

so its squealing only when you hit the brakes right? does it do it while turning or anything else?

No that's not hitting the breaks. That's just at a coast. You can get it to stop for a sec if you hit the brakes hard.. but then starts again. I assumed it was break related so that's why I was on and off the breaks when it started squealing
