Current tunes are for a RC

you cant use tunes made for other trucks on another truck ,even if it is another R/c ,vins wont match ,,you will have to replace tunes for your specific vehical ;)

I never said that you wouldnt have to start from scratch I was mearly saying what was currently on there. I also have these tunes saved as a file on my computer. I'm not certain if you can put your vin in and upload the tunes via the USB cable or not.

I purchased a SCT from a fellow member here with Torrie's tunes on it. Both are 2005 QCs. The tunes loaded in my truck just fine.

My understanding of this is:
The SCTs have a limit of three VINs and you must return to stock between each truck. After three, it needs to go back to SCT for a ~$150 reset.

What you can't do is directly swap PCMs between vehicles - that's where the VIN needs to be programmed.

You also can't swap SCT tunes between RC and QC.

So if I bought this I'd still have to pay Torrie another amount of money to get the tunes from him?

No, as long as the SCT hasn't seen 3 VINs and has tunes on it appropriate for your vehicle (same year, trans, etc). From a common sense perspective, they should have similar mods for the tunes to be appropriate, i.e., don't use a tune written for a blown nitrous motor on a stocker and vice versa, but from the SCT perspective, it would load.

Don't take my word on this - give Torrie or SCT a shout for confirmation and post back what you find out. :)

Free bump for the seller :)

Me:
I was looking to buy a used SCT tuner for my 04 Ram SRT10 regular cab. If it still has 2 vins left how much would I have to pay for the tunes for my truck? My tunes would be totally different than the one I'm buying.

SCT:
If you buy this new SCT tuner, first you need to make sure the part number off our device supports your vehicle. You can verify this off of our website. If you know the device your purchasing I can find out for you. If the device needs to be VIN Unlocked because the vehicle it was locked to is not available, you will need to send it in to be VIN Unlocked for $150.00. If the device is out of changes or unlocks, there is a $65.00 charge for this service.

me:
It's from a guy who has the same truck as me. We have different mods though. He is the original owner and says it has two more VIN's left to use. I was curious if I bought his tuner (SCT XCalibrator 2 Dodge/Chrysler Programmer) how much it would cost to have tunes made for my truck.

SCT:
We do not create custom tunes for our customers. Only our SCT Dealers can create custom tunes for you.

Here is the Link to search for SCT Dealers near you. They will be the ones to let you know the cost.
