Hey guys I need help ASAP! I was driving my truck and hit it in late first... Shifted into second fine climbed a little rpm and let off. Then the cel light came on and the truck slowly idled down until it shut off. The truck cranks great and u can hear the fuel pump but the truck will not start.. no leaks under thr truck... Oil and coolant look perfect. Any ideas?!

Checked and found out that there is no rear o2 sensor hooked up and the plug melted due to the exhaust... I believe there is a tune in the truck and the rear o2 was turned off.... could that be something of concern? Plenty of fuel is being pushed into the cylinders, the schrader valve shows that.... just seems like i have no spark.... bad ground? cam sensor? crank sensor? blown motor (lets hope not ha), coil pack? fried pcm? anything else I should check? Like I said I tried pulling codes with the ignition sequence and I got 0 codes nor did I get the done in the odo location.... only other thing to mention is that on cold start up it would have a very lopey idle (350rpm-750rpm)+.... but it always ran awesome

Only thing I can tell ya is from what happened to mine once. The fuel injectors shorted out and fried the ecm. But my ecm fuse was blown also. Dealer dropped a new ecm in and it fried it immediately. Then they decided to actually see what caused the problem. Dunno if that is yur prob but worth a shot.

i visually looked at all the fuses and they appear to all be good. The thing that leads me to think its an ecm is that when i do the key sequence to pull up codes, nothing happens... no codes... no done... nothing just the normal odo reading

Im hoping I can just get lucky and find out its a crankshaft position sensor.... I have a scan tool and I am going to try and pull codes that way..

One thing that scares me is that on my old truck (2003 ram hemi) it did almost the same thing, idled down when driving, and it ended up being a broken timing chain. The difference was that I could do the key sequence and it would pull up.

Irony is that before all this happened, when I was at the gas station, my brother made a joke and said your cel light is blinking... well the truck wasnt running so it would blink, but i did the key sequence anyway and right away it said done... no issues. Started the truck up and went off to cruise and mess with some buddies. Truck ran awesome the whole night until the issue arrived.

pulled a spark plug boot, put a screwdriver in it and had it against the metal motor mount and no arch/spark.... so spark seems to be my issue

Was one rear O2 disconnected or both of them? Are you running all 4 cats, high flows, no cats? If all 4 oem cats are present, I'd start with fixing the damaged connector and reconnect it. And I would also connect your scanner up and see what codes appear. Hopefully no codes show and the PCM is still good... Check all the fuses for continuity to make sure they are good and I'd try disconnecting both battery terminals and let it sit for about 30 minutes, reconnect them and try starting it. Several other problems may include the ASD relay, park/neutral position switch, theft system failure?

theft system failure is another option as there is an after market alarm system. Its a billy boat mid section with high flow cats so only 2 are present.

When the truck bogged down the cel light did come on

When you purchased the truck, did the seller provide any information about the tune or provide the hand held tuner (assumption here)? If you have the tuner, try reloading it. Any luck with connecting the scan tool? It's possible the aftermarket security system may be at fault...but, not sure if that system includes a start defeat feature or how it may work :dontknow:. I'd check the system and all the wiring and fuses for proper operation.

no handheld was provided when I bought the truck

Sounds like another PCM...tuned to factory, then retuned to match your mods, may be needed. Your dealer may be able to wipe out the current PCM and reflash it to factory :dontknow:

Just tried pulling codes with a handheld and that was a no go... handheld would power up but no signal to the computer to pull codes.... so the key sequence did not work nor did the scan tool.... gahhh

A aftermarket alarm would only kill being able to start the vehicle. It would not kill it while started (driving) or do anything with the CEL.

I'd say ECM or crankshaft position sensor.. since it wont allow you to access the codes I'd lean more to ECM...
