i forgot to post this up... some of you already know about it...

it's a '76 datsun 280z with an '83 280zx turbo motor with a turbonetics gtk500 ceramic bb turbo, '90-'96 300zx TT 5 spd. trans, half shafts, etc., spec clutch... corbeaus, zg flares with watanabe 16x9.5 fronts and 16x10.5 rear wheels...

only running 10 lbs. of boost now and that should be around 400 hp... it's easily capable of 500, and i also have a 3.1L forged stroker to go in it that should support 25-30 lbs. of boost:drool:... so... 650+hp and 2600 lbs.... that's what we all need:D

Nice but it can't have a 79zxt engine... They didn't start turbos till 81, i would assume its an F54 block since they are stronger than the 75-80 N42 blocks. What are the details on the 3.1? Diesel stroker crank or all custom stuff?

:rock::rock::rock:looks good:burnout::burnout::burnout:

edit... i think it's an 83 zxt that's in it... it came with 3 motors, lol...

the stroker has the diesel crank (allegedly)... it's never been in this car... yet;)

How bout some underhood pics, it'd have to have a sh*t ton of work to put out 400 on 10psi, stock they were only 180 on 7psi.....my first car was a 280zx been thinking about buying another one lately....

it's a 62mm turbo (i believe), a bosch 044 fuel pump, bigger injectors and fuel rail/lines, fast fuel management, and a profec b boost controller...

i know of a few similar builds that netted 350-360 wheel, so i think it's close... the gtk 500 turbo is rated 450-550 hp...

first real pass on the car, last week i went 8.31, so it's pretty strong... needs a clutch, though...

and this is the same car that was in the powershifting thread...

and i'm not taking any underhood pics because it looks like sh!t! the guy just stopped when he got there... painted the car, but not the engine bay, and it looks like somebody through a pot of spaghetti in there... wires and sh!t everywhere...

i bought it to finish and resell, but the more i drive it, the more i want to keep it!;)

My first car was a 76 280z that my dad bought me when I graduated. I had to restore it of course. Fun car! You have 240z bumpers on it though. Looks real nice. Let me know when u don't want it anymore! :D

Nice toy Dan! Got a new one of my own. It's a 99' BMW Z3 with that we are going to use as a track car. Here is a link to the place that installed the cage. It's in the 8th row. Roll Cages – Cage This I need a hard top.

BTW the flares look great on that body style. You gonna do any suspension upgrades?

I'm digging the wheel and tire combo. What is your overall goal for the car? (I will be freaking shocked if you really finish it and then sell in!)

Still have AC?
yessir!

i think a company called autoform makes hard tops for the z's... i know they do for the viper and s2k's...
as far as suspension, i'm leaving it alone... it already handles like a go cart... but i want some comfort, too... it's lowered 1" already...

before i set a goal, i have to really say "do i want this car"... and if money were no object, i'd keep it forever... it won't be the first car/truck i've had that i finished and sold... you just have to absolve yourself of the "feelings" you get when you've got a lot of blood sweat and tears in something...
i would at least like to feel the car at 20 lbs. of boost, but i don't know if it's worth pulling the motor just for that when the current one is fine... to track it, it would need a stronger clutch, but i haven't been beating on it, really...

bitchen car except for them mirrows on the front fenders ,if i had room i would take it ,,had a 240 z many moons ago ,,

the good thing about the 280's is the frame rails run the length of the car, which helps them structurally, especially when they're making bigger power...

tell you what... i'll build you a bigger garage and sell you the car and deliver it... how about that! it's a bargain!

when i sell this house next summer and decide to build my man cave 4 car garage we might be able to talk then lol
