Another Comp Cam for sale!!

Payment sent! This bitch is mine!

good for a decent 25 hp ,,just make sure you get a set of .027 head gaskets and you could get 30 to 35 out of it ;),but would be better to do some head work
This was first cam i put in my black 05 i use to have and without cats and stock heads and gaskets ,i hit 478hp on dyno ,after i had the thinner gaskets and some head work done i was around 490 to 500 .also get the slow bleed lifters ,they will squeeze out a tad more ,along with a set of harland rollers;)

Looks like with buying a cam I'm going to have to really get into the engine, but then again I guess that was to be expected. So from PM'ing a number of people and reading on the site, looks like I need springs and pushrods for sure and if I want to get the most bang for my buck, add in slow bleed lifters, .027 gaskets, and rollers. Anything else I'm missing?

Your'e taking the intake manifold off so might as well upgrade the coils/wires and new plugs. Your tune will probably have to be tweeked. Are you still running the stock TB/exhaust?

yeah, had to do plug wires already because mine dryrotted, wires and spark plugs are fresh, but will replace coils next time around when the cam goes in. Tune will be a must, I have a SCT already. Rear cats deleted and running 2 aftermarket mufflers with stock resonator removed also. Will be porting an extra set of exhaust manifolds that I have instead of going big money with headers. Stock TB as of right now.

Another member here on the forum has every component I need and I'll look to buy his stuff later this year when he removes from his truck. Parts have 2k or less miles on them. He's going a different route. When I get back from this deployment I should be going to see my family in Florida, so I'll probably have my wife follow me and drop my truck at Roe and let them install and tune everything and then pick it up on the way back.

Springs and pushrods don't have to be changed bro! Nor do lifters or head gaskets! Heads don't even have to come off!
Now yes to get more from your setup while working on your engine, those are great mods to add and WILL benefit the camshaft. But none are necessary. Valve springs and pushrods I would personally do, but if money is the object than lifters, head gaskets, oil pump, etc can wait :)

Forget about the coil packs, they do nothing!

I'd do coils for the mere fact my engine has 120k miles and is still running the stockers!

There is a trick to doing a cam in a viper motor without pulling heads ,maybe you should be telling him how to do it first and let him decide on how to go from there,

And I have a stock set of coils ill sell for $65 +shipping ,I took out of my CE that only had 14000 on it.

The thing with my truck is it's high mileage. Upgrading some of the valvetrain components to newer/better parts wouldn't hurt IMO, assuming I set aside the money for the parts and labor. That said, if there's a way to just install the cam without pulling heads, then that's an option I won't ignore. I'm all ears and don't want to leave any option on the table.

Yes you don't need to pull heads. Like and LS1 engine there are lifter trays which once cam is free from timing chain you can rotate the camshaft till all lifter are pushed up into the lifter tray ;)
But if you're having an installer do this they will know. Especially ROE :burnout:

Shouldn't you be mic'ing cylinder bores and fixing a crank? Lmfao
Or working on that 119 RWHP Ford truck peckerwood? :chain:

I would be surprised really if you do take this to Roe if he will even do it ,,Putting a cam in a truck with that many miles on it :dontknow:

Shouldn't you be trading new tires for a set of old ones, and buying a tranmission from a cop :egg:

Mileage shouldn't really affect it
I agree as long as oil and up-keep was done right ,just that a shop like Roe's that sells their own line of cams and I'm sure have a back log of work may not be interested in just doing an install from someone who brings in his own parts ,and has over 120k on it,but you never know until you ask them :dontknow:

Plus I would never re-use a set of lifters that have over 100k on them and use those on a new camshaft .you could get by with the stock springs and pushrods but with that high mileage why wouldn't you replace them since you are there anyway ,,the Roller rocker you could get away with using the stockers but if you do go with the slow bleed lifters the roller rockers make it a ton better and easier to adjust lash on pushrod .the stock lifters have No adjustment in them unless you shim them or remove some material from the rocker stands .

I have installed 4 cams in both my trucks ,,the best bang for the buck and hp increase is to
1 choose your cam for what you want to do first ,don't just go for a good deal on one ,the best i got was with Crower stage 2 or 3 and Roe' s 710
2 slow bleed lifters
3 set of roller rockers - harland or crower sell them
5 good set of bee hive springs
6 .027 head gaskets on a stock set of heads will get you close 10 to 1 compression
7 good set of hardend pushrods

this will get you real close to 500 rwhp n/a

I got 501 with the crower stage 2 in my black truck ,when i went with the competition cams 270 hr on the first cam i did and this set up i was 478 to 485 on two different dynos

Ok got to go pack the bags ,,let wife talk me into a vacation to the cayman islands ,going to stay in a small beach house for a week off the grid ,no phone ,no lights ,no internet ,no problem
We leave in the morning ,Peace out ;)

I'm more than likely replacing all of the components you listed Ironhead, relax :D

And FWIW, I chose this cam becasue after talking to some people and reading a couple of posts about it, it seemed to be a good daily driver cam with power in the lower RPM range, which is where I need it. Just happened to also be a good deal.
