I know this may be hard to swallow but got my OEM tonneau cover installed and after about 2500 miles I am getting 1-1.5 more miles per gallon. 80% of these miles are highway as 70 to 85 mph. These miles are three round trips to Houston plus daily driving from motel to work. I am averaging 1.4 more miles per gallon. Realizing I have a little extra weight but weight reduction is not my goal (cepting in my belly) as I do not race my 10 but use it as a dd so a little more weight and the security of the cover for valuables while traveling plus being a little prettier with the bonus of extra miles per gallon------I figure I came out pretty good.
The cover was bought for security of valuables and looks, not gas mileage or price of gas considerations. As someone posted earlier, “ya don’t buy a 10 with gas mileage or gas prices in mind.â€
By the way, I will post later why I like higher gas prices.
