Been having some issues with shifting, like it couldnt find the right gear sometimes. So I gave they guys at hts a call and they recommended a lot of things, but to start by adjusting the front band. So, got my tools and went for it. All was going well until I realized the stud was going all the way back into the trans. I knew this wasnt good. As it turns out, when I was backing off the retainer nut, I was unknowingly backing the stud out also, which caused some internal linkage problems….and now I have no second gear. I drove it around the block and I gotta admit, it was kinda cool staying in first that long before shifting lol. But yea, if you adjust your bands, make sure that stud does NOT back out. Otherwise your gonna have to drop the pan, valve body, replace fluids, etc. Just thought Id share that. Ok well now back to my fun filled day! Hopefully no more mistakes.

Good info. How many miles are on your truck?

oops!!!!

Just rolled 83k. I doubt the bands were EVER adjusted, so after I do that along with some other goodies, Im hoping it will ride like a new truck. Just out of curiosity, whats the highest mileage 10 around? Anybody know?

There are several with over 100k. Chuck from Phoenix recently posted an update and his truck had almost a bazillion miles on it.

A couple of the guys with QC's have stated that they adjust the bands after every trip to the track. Scott (Venomous1) can get you hooked up with everything you need to help the auto trans live as long as possible.

I've see them with over 220k miles on the clock

Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, called a local trans shop that knows all too well about the 48RE tranny and the flaws that come with it. So, getting a few things done that should make the trans last quite a while. :D

Well, that works, good job then

:drool:SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Man I knew there was probably one or two with a 150k or so but 220?!! That makes me feel really good. Im huge into maintenance and stuff like that. Im going to drive this thing until Im either sick of it or it explodes.

The funny part, is the majority of high mileage RAM SRT-10's I find are for the most part.... 2006's and Mineral Gray

Thats because they arent worth as much and the owners figured they'd drive em till the wheels fall off Just Kidding :D:D:D

Entire trans had to come out. Apparently this was one of the best mistakes Ive ever made, because at 83k miles, I was riding on a time bomb. The bands were chewing into the drum and it was hanging on its last leg. I knew something was a little off, but not THAT bad. Getting a rebuild with some goodies for the price of my deductible  I cant wait to go pick up my fucking toaster sized rental.

i just sold a fully built one all billet everything for 500 bucks
dam if i would of known i would have saved it for you

Your insurance is paying for it?

I have 122k. I've never adjusted my bands lol

Nope. I always keep a bumper to bumper warranty on my vehicles just for shit like this. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesnt. This is the first time Ive had to use one since about 2 or 3 cars ago.
