So I will cut a long story short…There is such a thing as white backlash. Please. Do me and yourself a favor and look it up before leaving comments because I have spent countless hours in college learning, studying, and writing papers on this subject. So there is no need to act like it doesnt exist. Its a very common issue if you have ever studied crim just. ANYWAY, I recently started a job for a company where we fix everything that Ford couldnt get right the first time. Thats besides the point. The point is that out of the thousands of applicants, a certain "quota" had to be met, regardless of prior work experience. Now, I remind myself all the time that this is law, and it must be done. And Im OK with that. My problem is this, (and this is where shit may get a little crazy)…..Instead of hiring people who are actually qualified for a job, we (Americans) hire people who literally cannot speak English because we are afraid to discriminate. Note: Not talking about any certain race here. Most of my co-workers cannot produce a correct sentence. They are of all races. White backlash, for those of you who do not know…Is simply put like this…Hire more people of color (any race) so white people arent subject to racism. Again, this is a real thing. I am simply recognizing it. In my case, most of the people that are working for my current LLC, are under the direct supervision of a certain race. Those who fall under that category are free to do as they please..clock in late, take huge lunches, do no real work, talk about bullshit, and generally fuck off. This is fine other than the fact that there are people who do not fall under this racial category that must pick up all the slack. And this is not a little bit of slack. If you are not following this so far, then just stop reading. You are lost. Mostly, this type of situation is confined to the south and has nothing to do with you. Congrats. I just want to hear..thoughts, examples, and probable solutions for the workplace if it happens to apply to you. This is a serious thread. I know this is a touchy subject, but please be tactful when choosing your words. Basically dont be a racist. IF you feel the urge to talk shit, then I suggest that you Goolge the subject.

I did not go into a lot of detail for reason, I urge people to google the topic and think for themselves. What ultimately happened was that a lot of extremely qualified people did not get hired because….welll….read the story. Just wanna hear your thoughts. Good or bad. Just dont direct your hate towards me, think of this as a debate class..

I didn't google this topic, nor did I spend hours in college researching it. But, I can tell you that racism is alive and real on all fronts. Am I discriminated against for being white? Yeah, at least I have been a couple times. Do I have black friends that have been discriminated against? Yes, and in some cases they have been treated very badly because of their race. Do I have Mexican friends that have been discriminated against for being Mexican? Yep, one of the dudes I work with is an outstanding worker, great family guy, and an all round good fella, and he has horror stories about the way he has been treated because of his race. What about Mongolian people, are they discriminated against? I don't know because I would never be caught dead associating with those chumps.

So what have I learned from all this? I have learned that life isn't fair. I have learned that I can avoid most problems by avoiding situations where problems could exist. I have learned that complaining about racism does little to help anyone, but treating people around me equally does (unless they are Mongolian. Those people suck). :D

I get everything you said. In my opinion, you are seeing how unorganized and how sensitive life is outside the military and how there is little to no accountability, anywhere. I feel your pain as prior service!

I hear ya! And I wish I could agree. Truth is, I have seen more racism/favortism in my military than anywhere else. (when I say my military< I just mean my experience). Just a shame that you have to fight like hell to get a 9 to 5, just to be alongside some guy who talks about drugs, murder, and rape…because by law he has to be hired so the company doesnt have to face any discrimination battles.

Oh I'm not surprised. I've heard many stories, unit to unit, command to command, whatever there are many people having VERY different military experiences. My experience (in the military) was seemingly very fair, if someone f'd up, they paid for it and those that busted ass were rewarded.

If only the civi life could be that way..

I agree totally, I have an untouchable employee at work that HR has basically given a free pass. Total cancer to the team and a huge morale buster. And I can't do a thing about it. If this person was a white male they would have been fired months ago.

Its even a bigger problem in the UAW....My dad was told in the early 90 not to bother applying/bidding for most jobs inside the plant, because he was a white male...All i ever heard about was all the decent people holding the place up for all the worthless fucks...

OK, so I Googled the subject and found a very different definition for "White Backlash". "White Backlash", as defined by most sites on the internet, is the actions taken by white people to push back against the black civil rights movement. I'm not sure how that ties into your original post?

That's not "White Backlash". In fact, that's the opposite. Geez, didn't you attend Racism 101 in school?

My brother in law is single. Any chance you could get her number? She sounds like she might be a lot of fun at family gatherings. :D

And not to be a pain or anything, but my Strikers still haven't shown up?

Really?….you dont see the connection? Hmm. I guess my original post explains how backlash begins in the first place. How much bullshit am I willing to take? Will I get fired if I say or do something about it? Also, just saying something about it would in turn make me an instant racist, for which I would also get fired. Let me ask you this one simple question…Have you ever been to the DMV?

Yes, it's filled with grumpy white people who are generally most unhelpful.

This thread has potential to lead to good discussion. But, I am still not clear on what it is that we are discussing?
