long tubes

From what I've understood they are worth it but $2,000+ is way out of my league, for less than 1/2 that you could do a custom N2o system............

Actually around $1700 for a good n2o kit and headers I can do for less ;)

Bellangers are anywhere from 1100-2000 depending on the vender, and worth it..

well its a debate the fastest truck on this forum for years did not have headers just stock manifolds ran 10s...

so debatable...

IMHO...I don't think the engineers at SRT...the same guys who made this truck possible....threw on some crappy lo-flow headers. They may be a bit restrictive due to certain laws but my guess is they flow quite well. And by quite well I mean I wouldn't spend a dime on headers.

But they look so sexy lol :)..

they do lol how much horse power gain average and sound Im big on sound

UMMMMM Power debatable ..

honestly your best bet is remove the cats " or high flow race cats, some sort of cat back , simple is cut out stock muffler weld in new race muffler..

you will get the same results as the $1000 cat backs, for $150 ..

I dont think the headers change the sound...

The sites advertise 40hp, but thats bs.. maybe 1-5hp.. with headers alone.

cats 10-15, cat back 3-7... something like that..

Yea...I welded in a full cat back with electronic cutouts and and muffler for about 500 bucks. Stock headers.

you fooled me I thought you liked The long tubes

You can get around 450-470 with good long tubes

so the gain is not huge, but when you start other mods, such as forced induction, heads cam so forth, that's when the headers start taking effect more

more air in , more air out , more hp to the ground

I need some of your long tubes shit 450 to 470 hp gain. That's a serious gain lol.

With my jmb intake, jtsvp throttle body, belanger longtubes, and 3" catless duals with x-pipe and straight through mufflers I picked up 32 HP at the wheels. Same dyno. Similar weather conditions. (All sae corrected anyway)
Horsepower is about $100/HP. Spend it however you want.

Removing the rear cats and going to a 3" will make a very noticeable difference. Best bang for the buck. As far as headers go, they do make a noticeable difference, but like mentioned before. They really come into play when you keep doing other things.

As for as stock headers being good enough. Well sorry to all of you that think they are good enough. If your trying for more power, THEY SUCK!

As far as the 10 second truck with stock headers. Well shit, you can make just about anything fast with enough money and N2o. With all the work he did he would have gotten more out of it with headers.
