I have a squealing that sounds like a power steering pump. That problem is it squeals at times and then is silent. Never happens when turning the wheel, even to the extreme while not moving. It comes and goes. When it starts I can kill the engine, restart and the noise is gone. Yet there it is about 40% of the time. Been going on for 3-4 months and at least 5K miles. Just can’t figure it out. A month ago I had to add about a half inch of fluid but that is all and there is not a single drop on the driveway or hoses. This morning got in, started it up and idled for 30 or 40 seconds and the wheel was extremely hard to turn. I put it in neutral, revved the engine and all was well. Got to be the power steering pump. Any thoughts?
Also, and after market pumps available? O'Reilly's has one for $77 and it shows to fit, $377 at the dealer not installed is way high. Thanks for any help and advice.

Belt time sir

Are you telling me that your belts are only good for 76,000 miles? :dontknow:

So a worn belt can sound like a bearing growl? :dontknow:

Yessir that mileage is beyond fair. Lol
The worn belt slipping making the squeal, the slipping slowing PS pump down making the bearing growl sound. Or your pump is going out as you've said. I try to start with most common and least expensive repair attempts first. :burnout:

This reminds me that I should go ahead and change mine. Almost to 76k on what is likely the stock belt.

Scott changed mine when he installed my UD pulley. He even left me the packaging so when the replacement was needed I would have the proper info and not have to go searching. Thoughtful to say the least. Just one more reason I keep going back to him-----even if he has to charge for his time with a markup on parts so he can put food on his table.

I would ask tony dr vipers track record diagnosing online has not been to good lately.

Well sir, Tony never offered advice and guess what, Dr Viper was correct, changed the belt and all is like new, no squealing and sounds great. Sooo, guess you need to find something else to rag Scott about. :dontknow:

Oh damn! Here we go again. Lmfao:rofl:

Nah, just wondered why the sarcasm. Sometimes ya gotta wonder if folks can't give advice without a dig or sarcasm. :dontknow: I would love to meet Dom as Chris as well as you has so many good things to say about him but last time I heard he wanted to punch me out so maybe I'll postpone. :D

I just changed all pulleys tensioner and an Ac compressor to get rid of the same issue. ironically it was a combo of all but at different times. And yes a new belt.

Good to go
