Looks great!

I know this comment isn't going to turn out well but.... I think you either need A. Glasses or B. A sharper crayon. I mean this with love!

I do on the other hand second the fact the idea is good.

It is not the finished product. It is a start of his project, which will be cleaned up.

well i guess its getting better on here, 8 comments and only on one that is void of any constructive thought

appreciate it guys, yes this is just the start, someone here gave me the idea of filling the grooves with paint and then try to clean the line so to speak on the raised areas. after the powder coating the grooves are almost non-existent so it is messier than i would of hoped but we will see. probably have to do several layers to get it where i want it

then hard part is getting something with a hard edge to hold paint thinner/remover without being too thick/absorbant that it squishes down into the grooves as i wipe the raised areas

Strange how my comments go missing. :D

I deleted it because while I have been pretty lax on allowing cursing in the non offensive sections of the forum, I decided to try to keep it to a minimum. Your response had one in the quote.

Thanks for the heads up Andy. I'll try to be more sensitive with these fine gentlemen. :)

well i didn't see it and could care less about cussing. i did ask "what do you guys think" so i expected some to go "not my taste" or like stealth78 said "thats not the finished product right?"

its just that some immediately go negative and have no constructive input at all
i see things on here all the time that aren't my taste or done "properly" by my thoughts but beating someone down who has passion for something i have passion for is just not my style

anyway

i don't think this will ever work as cleanly as i want it too so i may end up just leaving them completely black but that would lose the detail in the engraving

my hands and eyes aren't steady enough to take something to the grooves to make them more defined to accept paint easier and i haven't found anything that will wipe off the raised areas without digging into the grooves too.

Nuke, I was actually just busting your balls. I'm truly not the type of person to crush someone else's creative projects. I had a pretty solid assumption that was not the finished product. Sorry if you took my comments offensive.... C'mon the crayon comment was funny! Lol! Keep up the creative ideas!

It's not a bad thing to do what you can on your own if you think you can take on it. But if you aren't getting the results you want, you can always take them in to a professional.

Andy, could you at least give me a heads up if you're going to start deleting stuff... I hate when I miss someone else's smartass remarks.

tried that, no pin striper in town would touch it, they say the grooves are too shallow . what other professional would you be talking about?? and remember this is about center caps not trannys………..:D

i have a new pic on my phone, i may be getting better or having ore patience or both…….. I'm sure you guys will let me know the difference

Left is really labor intense, may take 3 passes to get it the way I want it

Right is the slop and wipe slowly, may take 6 passes to get it right

No this isn't the final product, this is the 1st pass

Any paint people out there?

Using enamel paint. Cleaning with some old paint thinner that was in the garage (at least 5 years old maybe more )

Is there something better stronger? Does this stuff go bad like gas with age?

not at all, i took yours as constructive, i could tell that you weren't thrilled with the idea of that particular item going on the truck but you weren't offensive about it either

i left the 1st post vague on purpose

although I'm sure trussman was critical i didn't get the barbie reference so it flew over my head so i didn't see it as critical either
