The hood scoop blew off the truck this morning, does anyone have 1 laying around after replacing their hood? If so, how much?

I don’t have one lying around but there’s two places I know you can get them from. First is JTS Venom Performance, they offer an OEM as well as an aftermarket one that has steel inserts with threads instead of those push-on speed nuts that the OEM uses. Second is the Viperstore.com. Which I think offers only the OEM. I just got my OEM replacement from JTS Venom and it came with everything except the speed nuts but they don’t come painted.

Thanks. Did the Jtsvp scoop need any prep work prior to paint or did it come primered ready for paint?

Mine I think is primed, haven’t gotten to body shop to paint it yet but it has everything else installed like the felt trim on underside as well as all 8 metal retaining clips, just doesn’t come with the push on speed nuts/clips for those 4 plastic studs that hand down through the bottom. To answer the other response, the aftermarket on is definitely stronger, but requires you to cut the opening out if you want it to look more real I guess. Once you get yours painted do what I’m gonna do. When you install it use some of that adhesive for windows or trim and apply it to the underside of hood scoop and then install it. There’s really no reason to ever have to remove it so I’m gonna make mine so you would have to use an air hammer to remove it so I don’t have it blow off like they all do later on down the road when you can’t find the hood scoops anymore.

Do you recommend this with the full hood as well??

I know you sell a hood but by your own words above you suggest purchasing the factory hood over your own..

Might want to rethink your process.... If your trying to sell aftermarket body panels but then saying only buy factory? :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

I’m not sure where you’re trying to go with this but I’ll help you out. I don’t work for JTS Venom, I work for Milton CAT as a field service tech so I’m not trying to sell anything. Second the hood is divided into different pieces plural as in more than one. The aftermarket hood scoop is a lot stronger than the OEM which I thought might be obvious by the way Tony says he builds them on his website and the fact that the OEM ones break.....frequently. We’re not talking about the entire hood also, just the scoop portion and each option has its drawbacks. OEM is just that OEM but it has inherit flaws which the aftermarket addresses however, the aftermarket is a one piece without a cutout as Tony states on his website so you have to modify it to make it exactly like OEM or just leave it because that hood scoop does nothing but give looks. He even states he threw his aftermarket across the shop and it didn’t break so that is a good indication of its strength and I’m pretty sure the aftermarket isn’t molded plastic as the OEM is but I could be wrong. To go even further I would have bought the aftermarket one but the wait time on it being built was too long so I went with the OEM additionally I wanted the Center grille section that comes with the OEM since I lost mine when it broke. Any further questions.

He says go OEM. I agree with that. However this is the same guy that has no problem busting holes in the side OEM cladding and bed for that moronic exhaust he hawks.

    Go figure.

Ok, before I start getting posts reported, the only people that should care about holes in cladding are those requesting it, secondly, the after market hoods don’t have the insert so why would one even care about oem or aftermarket

And the next bait question/statement may/will come with a downside

The major problem with oem hoodscoop is the cheap plastic that attaches it to the hood. Plastic becomes brittle overtime due to heat cycles and then it cracks and breaks away once you do a strong hwy pull into the triple digits.

Mine hasn't blowed off yet, but the ram hood emblem on the front of the hood few off one day lol.

When I bought mine, the scoop was broke, cracked down the center, and the honeycomb part was missing the nuts , so it’s basically hot glued on, I had the dealer order one and they never did, “they are on back order “ , I tried giving them a direct connect to where to find them and now the truck has Brenda sitting there for the last 2 months on other issues
