    Morning All,

My 06 QC needed an alignment so I took it in to the dealer. Was informed that the both tie rod ends are worn and will need replacement to do an alignment. The steering did feel sloppy. I have 68,000 miles on the truck. Dealer was unable to source new tie rod ends and said the whole steering rack would need to be replaced as a unit. Has anyone found a source for new tie rod ends for our trucks? If not, would X2 Builders be my only option? Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I'm leery of RockAuto for our truck. They have burned me before with incorrect parts.

Sure enough, I took a look and they list tie rod ends for either 8 lug wheels or 5 lug wheels. I don't believe our trucks came with 8 lug wheels. For whatever reason, RockAuto doesn't do a good job of distinguishing between our trucks and the regular 1500 trucks.

I basically replaced all my suspension components, bought mostly everything from Rockauto. If you go with them make sure to google the discount code to get %5 off. Let me know if you need the part numbers. Below is my thread.

Great write up. Yes, if you would, please let me know the part #s for the inner and outer tie rod ends. Do you know if 05 and 06 are the same?

    THIS^^^

I just replaced my outer tie rods. Got the moog's for the 5 lug from Rockauto.

    THEY DO NOT FIT>

Our trucks have the 5 lug wheel obviously.. but in 06 Dodge put the tie rod ends from the 2500 or I would assume the 8 lug wheels.

You will know as the thread pitch is way off from the 5 lug to the 8.

Yes, 05 to 06 Quad Cab parts are different. My guess would be because the 05s are on the 1500 chassis and the 06s are on the 2500 chassis. Hence why the 06s are a few hundred pounds heavier.

Thanks Guys! I just ordered the Moog's for the 8 lug wheels. I checked the part # against the same part for the 2500 truck and they were the same. I'll report back on the fitment.
