Thanks. Yes, below are the part numbers. MOPAR 5143399AA Caliper Piston- you need 8 pistons, 4 per caliper MOPAR 5143400AA Caliper Seals- you need 2, 1 per caliper.
Update. Finally I was able to drive my truck after my caliper rebuild on the front. Drove about 250miles, truck definitely feels way better and stops on a dime. Before the rebuild you could definitely feel the pistons were seizing. You could feel once you let go of the gas that the truck would start slowing down noticeably. And when you would get on it, as if it was under load. Like something was holding it back. Now it feels way better. Now I just have to rebuild the rear and replace with brand new pads/rotors. I’ll keep you guys updated once that’s done. Below is a picture of the rim that I just mounted on the truck for the picture before I put all the lug nuts. Looks way cleaner too!
Are you installing a new set of tires as well? I just bought a set of yokohama Parada Spec X on the 10 and got the 4 wheel alignment as well.
Na still got plenty tread. Just don't want to tear them up. Good thing too as the left tire was toeing out 2 mm. That has settled it down abit at high speed on our rough roads. However the hood scoop fell off today so there's a project. At about 110 mph passing a logging truck. 4 axle truck towing a 5 axle trailer. I think I shall make some new resin posts and drill and screw the scoop back on. Make it better stronger faster.
There are a couple of rear calipers for our 10's on ebay. These are NOS and listing is for new ones @ 60.00 bucks. I will pull up the listing for you tomorrow.
For both front calipers the parts were about $200 for all the parts. The $200 includes the 8 pistons, seals for both sides and the brake fluid.
Finally had sometime today to start on the rear calipers and I wanted to update the thread. This time it wasn’t due to covid because of the parts, it was me. I’m not going to lie, the parts have been sitting in my garage since early 2020. A little hard with family and work, but here are some pictures.
Rear pads and rotors still had some meat. Some pictures of the rotor where you can see it’s a little worn. By the looks of it and the stamping on the rotors I’m about 95% sure these are the original 05 rotors and pads on the truck. Below are some more pictures.
Calipers removed. I know if it’s not broke don’t fix it, but I had the parts already. The rear brakes were not sticking but since I rebuilt the front ones I wanted to rebuild the rear ones also. The pistons were good, but what I did notice were the seals were a little dry rotted. Still removed everything to rebuild them and add new pads/rotors. More pictures.
Put the wheels back on for now and put chalk blocks in front. Just as a safety measure, I don’t live in an HOA but I have had the city called on me for leaving my truck on jack stands with chalk blocks over night. But that’s a conversation for another day. Put zip lock bags and kept the brake hose elevated so all the brake fluid doesn’t drain out. Sprayed the calipers with degreaser, so I can sand them and get the ready for paint. More pictures.
Started with just degreaser, scotch pad, and good ole elbow grease. They cleaned up pretty good, you can see both with just degreaser and the scotch pad. Here are some pictures.
I noticed some rust where the brake hose connects and decide to clean it up with the wire wheel. I also notice that some moisture has gotten in the bores of the pistons and some rust has started to build up on the walls. I need to get a different wire to clean them up before the rebuild, I guess it wasn’t bad that I took them apart even though they were working fine. Some more pictures.
This whole thread makes me realize how dumb I was for not noticing that my front brakes were dragging, and about to lock up. I say that because, the dude had recently washed the truck before I bought it, but the front wheels were basically black after just 300 miles of driving.
