Dude, I'm fairly certain I'm the first to even attempt removing these mothers - and they ain't giving it up! Copious amounts of WD-40 and a 250lb impact wrench did nothing. Ratchet and hammer did nothing. I didn't have much room to pull, but "The Negotiator" (5ft steel pipe) did nothing but break my ratchet. Tomorrow I'll try heat, wax or something else.

Crazy, I would try to remove the caliper first and then remove the caliper bracket. Once you remove the caliper, remove the pads and I would spray the tip of the bolts. Hopefully that helps.

Are you saying split the caliper in half, revealing the tips of bolts that hold it to the spindle?

    DO WHAT????

there are 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the spindle.

F%&king up the caliper won't do nothing to help get the caliper off

i would put monies on the bolt flange is gaulded to the aluminum spindle.

just went out & looked, have my complete front end apart & checked the caliper.

the mounting bolt holes are through holes below the caliper housing.

    please don't take its advice

It's all good. I was able to split them in half, heat and lube the bolt tips then crack 'em loose with "The Negotiator" (5ft steel pipe.)

You're fine, man! The bolts being steel and the spindle being aluminum created a bond. I'm gonna slather the shoulders and threads of the bolts with anti-seize when I reinstall. I spilt the calipers in half because I'm rebuilding/painting them anyway.

Im wasn’t taking about taking the caliper apart. So just so we’re on the same page, the caliper is mounted to the caliper bracket and the caliper bracket to the spindle. The picture he had was to remove the 2 bolts from the caliper bracket to remove it from the spindle. I was suggesting he remove the caliper from the caliper bracket and then the bracket from the spindle.

Once the caliper is off the caliper bracket, yes I do recommend you split and take apart the caliper. The reason I recommend it is so you can have room to clean out the rust from the bores. Otherwise you are unable to clean them with a wire wheel and drill. But to each there own.

You failed to mention how fun forcing the pistons out with compressed air would be; like a miniature civil war cannon!

I actually broke my old pistons with a screw driver and hammer. But yes, I have heard they shoot out pretty good with compressed air.

Your correct, I was getting confused with the rear since I’m currently working on them.
