Whats up guys. Been lurking around here for the past couple months readings and decided to join. Driving a 2006 red QC. I sure do love this truck, and look forward to hanging out on here with other people that appreciate them as well.

I am in Seneca. As to mods, i have done a lot of weight reduction work, a k&n drop in filter, jtsvp underdrive pulley, and a SCT tune from Torey at unleashed tuning. Cerberus is running a 13.5 1/4 mile, 8.8 1/8 mile so far.

Seneca, eh? You're only like 45 minutes from me then! We should meet up at some point!

Question. The SCT tune you bought from Torry, was it plug and play, or did you have to pay extra for a custom tune? What increases did you notice? I too will be buying a tune from him. I just noticed the one I originally wanted to buy, is no longer offered.

The way the SCT works is it is just a tool to flash programs. Whatever tuner you buy it from loads tunes they have written into it. When you purchase the SCT from Torry he includes two tunes. I got one for 93 octane and one for 91 octane in case I can't find 93. He also made some requested changes (shift points, cooling fan set points, etc) included in that cost as well.

As to performance, When I bought the truck I bought a dragy gps drag time tool. Fastest I could get bone stock was a 14.55 1/4 mile. Then I did some basic weight reduction stuff and got it down to a 14.35 1/4 mile, and I suspect some of that was me getting better at driving the truck. The I put the Tune in it and dropped down to a 13.95, but it wasn't shifting the way I wanted. We raised the shift points and the truck ran a 13.8. These were back to back runs on the same day on the exact same stretch of road.

After that I got more aggressive with weight reduction (no windshield washer system, lightening holes in lots of hidden places, modified the front bumper which helped it run much cooler and alos dropped a ton of weight, etc) and put and under drive pulley from JTSVP on it. That dropped the times to a 13.59. This is on stock wheels and tires. well probably not stock tires, its 15 years old, but the 30/40r22 street tires that came on it when I bought it. No fancy race tires.

Thank you for the information. The only two things I've done to mine is a BBK throttle body, and the same underdrive pulley you added. I noticed a big difference in response time. I have a 170° thermostat, so I'll need the cooling fan to be adjusted, and I also want to change my shift point from 3rd to 4th. What RPM does yours shift at now?

When you say "lightening holes" that sort of concerns me. Are you taking a holesaw to your truck and cutting out discs of sheet metal? If you want more speed, instead of mutilating the truck, just save up for a cam, headers, heads, supercharger, etc. I know those are all very expensive, but it seems better than putting a quad cab truck on a weight reduction diet as if it were a 93 Civic hatchback.

Only in places you cant see when fully put together and that can be easily replaced with common scrapyard parts. I'm not ruining anything unique or expensive.

It's going to get all those other parts and more as well. Probably forced induction after the heads and cam. But making it several hundred pounds lighter will always make it faster no matter what mods are in it.

Mine shifts at 6200 in all gears. Works like a charm.

I also have the 170 t-stat and it seemed to help the IAT as well.

How do you like that throttle body? I think the next thing I get may be the jtsvp one.

Welcome aboard. If money is no object then attach a supercharger and forged pistons and build a tranny to match. These thing can make big power with ease.....just money.
There is plenty of serious knowledge hiding in this forum. Unfortunately not from me.
I enjoy my truck. I have never drag raced mine tho. May do sometime.
    Curious why a QC? RC's are lighter/faster.

I can't speak for him, but I chose my quad cab because I genuinely think they look better, being longer and having the extra doors and all. Also, the ability to carry a couple extra passenegers, plus tow a little is nice. And, for the final reason, they're USUALLY cheaper. I scored mine for $19k with 91k miles. Similiar regular cabs were about $24-26k.

I like the BBK. It would stick slightly at idle when I first bought it last year, but it got worn in, and have no issues with idle anymore.

Money is always an object, lol. But power adders are on list once I get my kid through high school. Plus I want to see if I can get this truck into the 11s the old fashioned way.

As to the quad cab, I have a wife, a kid, two dogs that I travel with. They dont fit in a regular cab truck. So it had to be a quad cab. Plus I tow with this thing. My truck still has to be a truck, not a truck shaped car
