Has anyone driven one? How does it drive? I'd assume it drives closer to a Model-T than our trucks despite all the similarities (dodge, rc, manual)? I have the opportunity to get one cheap. It is 4x4. I go over the cascades here and there so the 4x4 would be peace of mind. I've read that the 4.7 (at least pre-2008) is a dog though. I don't know if it has been discussed here but would a Gen III 5.7 rc manual been fun or would it have diluted the uniqueness of the SRT 10?

Stick behind a 4.7 makes it slightly more fun but yeah, you're still saddled with like 235 hp. Factory upgrade parts are getting harder to find and the 08-12 engine cannot be easily retrofitted to the older platform, though the parts all bolt on and you can custom tune the 4.7's ECM. Alot harder to modify these since there was no factory support and very little aftermarket support (especially since Nick from AIR RAM passed recently). There is a company that still makes blower kits for them: 2000-2007 Dodge RAM 1500 4.7 Liter V8 Supercharger | Boosted Technologies, LLC

A 3G 5.7 stick in a 1500 would've been lotsa fun but they weren't having it for some reason; that combo was only available in 2500/3500 HD trucks. The auto in the early 3G 1500 combo is the weak link in that drivetrain. It's why I ultimately ended up in a 4G.
It would've been a much cheaper alternative but still wouldn't have had near the performance, especially considering the 10 is a whole package of upgrades.

I watched a video YEARS ago, had a bunch of street races in it. One of them was an 04 or 05 quad cab 1500 5.7 with an STS turbo vs a lightly modified SRT-10 RC vs a 2G Lightning. From a 60 roll on a highway the 10 walked everybody, followed closely by the Ram; the Ford blew up (video showed a rod punched out the side of the block lol). Have to see if I can find that video.

You could omit the ford from that last sentence and I'd still know what it was.

I can't believe it's still up lol (fast forward to 1:34 to skip the other runs):

I like manual trucks, but they're rare and have remained so for at least twenty years, unfortunately. Especially 4x4 flavored!

I prefer the option of 4WD or AWD these days. With all the borderline out-of-control power we have available, there's no shortage of wreck videos on the Internet of our RWD friends.

You can absolutely get in wild conditions in fast 4WD stuff too, but it has to help a little bit. An example:

Mind the language.

And that is why I might actually consider one of the new Chargers if they put a Hellcat engine in it; so long as they keep the AWD.

Has to be fun hahahaha hole shot phuck hahahaha

I had an 05 2500 QC 4x4, 4.10 gears with a 5.7 NV4500. It was allot of fun. 3rd gear burnouts were nothing. Put a comp cams stage 2 cam in it, 90mm t-body, and aftermarket coils to get rid of the wasted spark setup. K&N cold air intake. Had it dynod. Made 262hp and 284tq on a mustang dyno. Stock heads with shorty headers. High flow cats, y pipe. 3” exhaust straight pipe. Was a northern truck. Rotted out, or I would still have it. I would go with a newer 5.7 with the variable valve timing. Night and day difference in power. They opened the heads up on those. If I went with Eagle heads I would have been over 300hp.
