I’ve been saving up for an SRT-10 for a while now, and I have a few questions.

Does the lack of traction control really affect daily driving? Also, what are some things I should look out for when buying one of these monsters?

I really love the history behind the truck and the way it looks. It’s always been one of my dream vehicles, so I want to make sure I know what to watch for before buying one.

I have no problems with traction and im stock except for lower shackles to level the rear height .
Some have have modified using traction devices like Caltracs others that race use slicks .. the only tire slippage I ever get is on wet roads taking off from a stop ..

Check power steering hoses ,oil line cooler hoses for seepage , many have replaced them with after market for JTSVP.COM .

Do you daily the truck? What’s it like?

I currently have a tuned 2007 Ram 1500, and it drives like a beast. Honestly, I get worse MPG than what I’ve seen some SRT-10 owners report, but I also drive like an ape when the roads are clear.

Would you say the SRT-10 feels somewhat similar to a regular Ram 1500, or is it a completely different ballpark? I’m trying to get an idea of what to expect before I buy one.

I use to daily drive it when I bought it and used for work , a lot of driving then .. Now I don’t drive anything much at all since retired .

Driving around town , stop and go I get around 9.4 mpg .. highway cruising around 60 to 70 15.2 best .. Mine is QC automatic…

Back when I bout it I was looking for the hemi and came across the 10 and test drove it along with test driving the hemi rams QC’s .. Night and day power handling difference and I jumped on the 10 immediately. That was 20 years ago and still have it today but only run it a little around the area a couple time a month to blow out the cob webs ..

Are you looking for a Qc or SC , auto or manual ? And Black is the fasted color hahaha

What’s your best story of you driving the truck?
Best story pertains to this site when it began and meeting many of the 10 owners and going to GTG’s ..
As for on the road , there was this kid dogging me , weird he kept popping up on the road and purging his nitrous in his little SRT 4 .. no idea what other mods he had except the nitrous … always in traffic and Im not about to play in that situation … well one late night no traffic on a main road and look and behold this guy pops up next to me snorting his nitrous purge.. I look down at him and shake my head … To the floor it went . I pulled him and left him so far behind I don’t know where he went hahaha ,,, Never saw him after that … I think he might have ran home put his 4 on sale on EBay and started to save up for a 10 hahahaha !

Biggest question the reliability on the 10 I know if you keep up with the maintenance it will go on for a long time but what do you recommend when I do get it?

The one I been looking at for a couple months now is the 06 QC in gray so it got some black in it hahaa
Regardless of what anyone says the world record was set in an 04 RED truck by Brendan Gaughan - proven fact lol lol

Parts are harder to find but are available. The 06 is different in many areas than the 05 - they didn't make a QC in 04 so can't include that one

There are lots of little things discovered over the years that are quirky - research the forums and threads. And IMO if you find one you're interested in check the history of its ownership and how it may have been cared for. A mechanic familiar with Viper engines would be good to find and have them look it over if possible. Most dealerships don't even know what these trucks are since there are so few of them that were produced so if you go to a stealership keep that in mind.

Good luck, welcome and have fun

And NO that thing don't have a HEMI hahahaha

I’m based in Florida, and I’ve heard there are some really good Viper mechanics down here, so I’m not too worried about maintenance. The only thing that concerns me is the trip to pick up the vehicle. It’s about 3 hours away, and I’d have to drive it over 200 miles back home.

I also checked the Carfax, and it looks like both previous owners really took care of the car. It has stayed in Florida its whole life, and there are service records going all the way back to when it was purchased in 2006.

I checked the Viper registry that you guys posted, but it looks like the car hasn’t been registered on the site yet.

Bit that doesn’t make it the fastest color or the fastest truck :p

Truth of show …. Went to a dealer when I first bought it to check on any recalls ,, I asked the service managers about the cost of a transmission service and band adjustment … He said they don’t have Bands .. Ok bye bye dealer ..

I can only attest for mine , some problems from factory ,,, Auto trans have a problem with the 1/2 shift hunting … easy fix by adjusting the kick down throttle cable on QC’s …. SC’s came with a weak clutch hydraulic system , more expensive to replace with better system parts….
Being you are in FL ,, and don’t have a garage or cover beware the elements will destroy the paint and plastic cheap ass parts will dry rot and break,, DONT ASK ME HOW I KNOW !
Not sure on the 06’s , but beware that the big 05 front calipers can lock up ,, several reasons but nobody has really checked out the reason and fix IMO .. they say rebuild the caliper , moisture causing corrosion and possibly rubber brake hose deterioration internally and pinching .. do brake fluid changes regularly are all the claims I’ve heard .. I tend to think it’s the brake hoses .. the system should be sealed and moisture should not be excessive IMO .
The calipers are no longer made and rebuild kits are still available which I bought way back just to have for the rainy day …

The calipers even happens on hemi driving 25 mph one day in my truck and I see smoking coming form the rear.

Ps where do you find parts for the car cause I see a website called the viper store but it doesn’t have everything?
