So last night I noticed my alignment was off and pulled over to see what was going on... My tire was noticeably low, and drove to nearest gas station to fill er up. So I got the truck home and checked out later on last night and it wasn't noticeably low. However this morning it was low again. I used an air compressor to fill it again and get to a tire repair shop.
Before I left I called a few friends to see what they have done in the past with similar situations. One of them has had an STi for several years, the other an STi and a m3. They told me to head to Rick Johnson's if it was just for a tire repair since it was close by. (The dodge dealership is kind of far from here to be moving with a leaky tire)
My reason for posting is that after waiting, I heard the truck turn on and noticed out the window that the reverse lights were on but the truck wasn't moving. The dude forgot about the brake. As I'm running out (limping with a leg currently going through therapy) and he is revving trying to get it to move he stalls the truck pretty bad. How a mechanic forgets to disengage the parking break beats me. But I was pretty pissed to say the least. Now I'm outside and he revs mad high while letting the clutch out pretty slow which makes me even more livid. I proceed inside to tell the manager what had just happened and insist on leaving and driving the truck to dodge and have them handle it. I told him I was a valet driver for 3 years and had asked people about their cars if I had any questions about weird e-brake placements and other such things unique to given cars. I explained I would have much rather had him come inside and ask and I could have just showed him where the e-brake was than to see the truck stalled n clutch grinded away like that. The manager was extremely polite and felt terrible about the situation and I let them handle the tire problem.
Turned out there was just a small leak, no nail, gash or anything, and a simple patch did the job.
I admit I'm a new truck owner, and was weary about bringing the truck to a neighborhood shop like Rick Johnson even for a tire repair. Did I do the right thing? Or should I have just taken it a little further to the dealership and let them handle it. After seeing the moron stall the truck what would you have done? I was just paranoid about driving it a distance even though it was a small leak. Just looking for advice from some experienced owners. Thanks
