PDC/FCM problems...maybe

Hi everyone. I just bought a 05 QC two week ago and inherited a electrical problem. Randomly when turing the truck on, the speedo, radio, power windows, ect wont work. The ABS and Brake light stays illuminated during the issue.

After a 2-10 minute delay everything powers back on and the ABS/Brake light turns off. Sometimes the truck powers up perfectly for days at a time.

The previous owner had an aftermarker 6 disc player with its own secondary reciever rigged into the bezel storage compartment. Just yesterday, I had all of it removed and ran a diagnostic scan on the truck at the dealer. The dealer told me I need a new Power Distribution Center (Fuse Box) & a Front Control Module(Fuse box port).

One big problem, nobody has a FCM anywhere. I found a PDC on mopar overstock for 400. Has anybody had this issue before? Could something else cause this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FCM 5029599AF

I have not run into this issue before, the 2 parts you listed are indeed discontinued and there are none in Chrysler's inventory. Your only chance would be to find used.

I thought only the 2006 trucks had that stuff. Are you sure it's a 2005?

Yep, its a 2005. Been creeping on the forums trying to figure this one out. Drove it to work today with no problems. Acts up on random days. Maybe a weather affects it? I live in Kansas and currently the temp is moving from low 40s to mid 70s. I'm trusting the dealer checked out everything but you know the drill. In and out!

To show my knowledge in this department... What the hell is a PDC or an FCM? Did you possibly check if you have an STD that started this problem? If so WTF!

There is a guy that repairs them. Can't think of his name though. :dontknow:

Anyone else?

PDC is the entire fuse box. FCM is the port on the side of it. Dont now about the STD part. Haven't been to the doctor in awhile.

Thanks. I will send a pm to him to see if I get the price down further plus a pic of the part number. The 400 dollar one is supposedly new.

He had a listing on the south florida craigslist for awhile. Noting showing up now. He is parting out the whole truck.

Not sure if this would do anything but when i have had electrical issues i disconnect the battery and unplug the 3 pcm plugs for at least 10 minutes also hold the positive and negative battery cables together for a few seconds to drain any power. This is a hard reset. It has worked for me in the past when i had a computer/electrical problems. I also have an 05 qc

I've read about the hard reset. Plan on trying a few things out today. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer overlooked a few items. Im real sensitive regarding the PCM though. Prices for those are sky high! Will update later on. Thanks

I thought $400 seemed reasonable :dontknow:
Cheaper than an iPhone

A quick look at wiring diagrams shows the power windows on an 05 don't get power from the Integrated power module (under hood fuse box). The power comes from the Run Accessory Relay (SRT10 only) behind the left kick panel. I couldn't find the relay in any other accessory wiring diagrams to see what all it powered up but might be worth a try to test or replace it before spending big bucks.
