OK guys, I just put in for a permit to buy 2 hand guns. I've been shooting a HK 40, and I do like it. But what would you guys who use them, think about brands, calibers etc...

45 ACP is one of the best stopping rounds out there....slow bullet speed but heavy and mass trauma....9mm is worthless for stopping power..

So Im alittle confused..we have the .45, which supposedly will stop a charging dinosaur if he is invading your house, and the 9mm, which puportedly has no stopping power..I admit that I am not very knowlegable when it comes to handguns, but if bigger is better, why not go all out and get the 50 cal..or just boobytrap your house with claymores, or park a tank in your driveway..I would think that a couple well places shots with a 22 could stop someone intent on doing you harm just as well as some big bore howitzer, wouldnt it?..dead is dead if thats your goal..

a stock 9mm is worthless maybe against dragon skin.

1944 Browning 9MM magna ported blued under barrel laser mount with 14 shot combat clip
800 grain red line copper jacketed shells hand cut from 45 caliber stock and hand loaded.
It will go from left to right through a small block chevy and yes I did this myself.
9MM can be fun if they are worked correctly and you can shoot the damn thing one handed.
That said it is sort of the equivalent of supercharging one of our trucks. You might ask why but to someone who appreciates it it doesn't need explanation just doing.

800 grain?? isn't .45 acp 230 grain, and to the ones that do talk crap about 9mm i'm sure you'd change your mind if it was used on youetaylormcp said:

Heck! I carry a little .32 semi auto. I think it will do it's job to dissuade someone with bad intentions if the need ever arises. Plus who wants to walk around with a big bulky sidearm all the time. never carried a gun...I was always afraid of shooting myself in the foot or something..lol..I had a Ruger Redhawk 357 with an 8" stainless barrel, target grips, etc, but got rid of it for fear my kid or my ex wife would get ahold of it..
I do know more than a few ways to blow stuff up though..hehe (and for the ATF if you are reading this, I do not know, nor have I ever been a member of any terrorist organization..well there was this girl I met one time who might have been a commie, but I was never really sure..)
