With good traction you will go thru the 1/4 in 4th gear. And 99% of your driving is on the street not on the dragstrip.

No, your standard housing is fine, you would need a new carrier for the 4.88's. the 4.10's and the 4.56's use the same carrier. The only reason to change housings is to use stronger axles or a Detroit Locker posi unit. I have no idea which is stronger but the 4.88 should be under less stess...

If you have a truck with 4.10 gears NOTHING will give you a quicker performance gain than 4.88 gears. Caveman and I have been talking about him changing to 4.88's and I could not think of anything it would hurt and only performance gains. Your truck will feel like you found 100 hidden...
