Nice! There are always ways out...but i keep my stuff in order (certs, training etc) but if you know the system well enough, or get a certain judge, it can go away...I don't write many tickets in that manner, but it is possible.
I've had multiple go to trial...none of which turned out well for the defendant. The judge, however, does take the 4mph off the speed that is on the summons. 50 in a 25 becomes 46 in 25.
It's been that way here in NJ as long as i've been an officer...New officers are trained to estimate a vehicle's speed to within 4 mph upon observation of the vehicle.
