Fresh owner here from South Jersey

Woo-wee! Look at that banana Ram! I really wanted a Yellow Fever, but didn't want to spend the extra cash.

I'm sure he meant 2005, as the 1 and 0 are very close on many phone keyboards.

    Panel Rot?

Hey guys, I was wondering, what causes severe rust or "panel rot" on 3rd gen Rams? My truck seems to be 99% rust-free, but I've noticed others aren't so lucky and have seen many 3rd gens with rusted out wheel wells, etc. I've even heard guys claim they keep their trucks clean as a whistle and...

    Gibson Headers

With your mods, you should be making around 450-ish at the wheels - which should be pretty snappy in a 4750lb rig. I'm not sure what other cars/trucks you've owned and maybe you're used to more? I know I had an '04 GTO with longtubes, tune and a stall - it would easily stomp this truck, but it...

Caliper Bolt / Banjo Bolt Torque

*UPDATE* - Torqued the brand new OEM banjo bolts to 20 lb-ft, using my new digital adapter, and even then they felt like they were 1 or 2 lb-ft away from snapping, but they DID hold and aren't leaking, so hey

Caliper Bolt / Banjo Bolt Torque

Hey, guys! I finally got around to reinstalling my front brakes. That said, every thread I could find on here called out the big, 18mm caliper bolts as being 130 lb-ft of torque, which seemed kinda high, but hey. The hex bolts that hold the (2) caliper halves together I couldn't find the spec...

    Start Button Issues ?

Could be the PCM and the way it's interpreting the signal, if it's doing it every 50th start, or mimicing some other increment or pattern. If it's just sort of random, I'd bet the copper contacts inside the swich are worn down. You may be able to take the switch apart and clean the contacts with...

    Caliper piston seized

Great work dude! Got a quick question - do you remember the torque for the 18mm bolts that hold the front calipers to the steering knuckle? Also, what about the smaller Allen bolts that hold the (2) halves of the front calipers together? I've heard 130ft lbs and 65ft lbs respectively, but idk.

    Caliper piston seized

I noticed you simply cleaned and roughed up the paint a little before painting the fronts - how are they holding up? I ask, because that's about all I did prior to paint (degreased and roughed up a little with a wire wheel.) Also, what paint did you use? I used VHT Caliper Paint.

    Frozen Caliper Bolts

You failed to mention how fun forcing the pistons out with compressed air would be; like a miniature civil war cannon!

    Frozen Caliper Bolts

You're fine, man! The bolts being steel and the spindle being aluminum created a bond. I'm gonna slather the shoulders and threads of the bolts with anti-seize when I reinstall. I spilt the calipers in half because I'm rebuilding/painting them anyway.

    Frozen Caliper Bolts

It's all good. I was able to split them in half, heat and lube the bolt tips then crack 'em loose with "The Negotiator" (5ft steel pipe.)

    Frozen Caliper Bolts

Are you saying split the caliper in half, revealing the tips of bolts that hold it to the spindle?

    Frozen Caliper Bolts

Dude, I'm fairly certain I'm the first to even attempt removing these mothers - and they ain't giving it up! Copious amounts of WD-40 and a 250lb impact wrench did nothing. Ratchet and hammer did nothing. I didn't have much room to pull, but "The Negotiator" (5ft steel pipe) did nothing but...

    Caliper piston seized

This whole thread makes me realize how dumb I was for not noticing that my front brakes were dragging, and about to lock up. I say that because, the dude had recently washed the truck before I bought it, but the front wheels were basically black after just 300 miles of driving.

    Sign of A Hit?

Haha! What a missed opportunity not making these things RAM AIR! Also, sounds like the ol' girl may be collision free! Well, Im' fairly certain the front bumper cover has been removed at least once, as its center doesn't quite align with the grille's center. There's also signs of, what I can...
