    Caliper piston seized

I noticed some rust where the brake hose connects and decide to clean it up with the wire wheel. I also notice that some moisture has gotten in the bores of the pistons and some rust has started to build up on the walls. I need to get a different wire to clean them up before the rebuild, I guess...

    Caliper piston seized

Started with just degreaser, scotch pad, and good ole elbow grease. They cleaned up pretty good, you can see both with just degreaser and the scotch pad. Here are some pictures.

    Caliper piston seized

Put the wheels back on for now and put chalk blocks in front. Just as a safety measure, I don’t live in an HOA but I have had the city called on me for leaving my truck on jack stands with chalk blocks over night. But that’s a conversation for another day. Put zip lock bags and kept the brake...

    Caliper piston seized

Rear pads and rotors still had some meat. Some pictures of the rotor where you can see it’s a little worn. By the looks of it and the stamping on the rotors I’m about 95% sure these are the original 05 rotors and pads on the truck. Below are some more pictures.

    Caliper piston seized

Finally had sometime today to start on the rear calipers and I wanted to update the thread. This time it wasn’t due to covid because of the parts, it was me. I’m not going to lie, the parts have been sitting in my garage since early 2020. A little hard with family and work, but here are some...

    Caliper piston seized

For both front calipers the parts were about $200 for all the parts. The $200 includes the 8 pistons, seals for both sides and the brake fluid.

    Caliper Rebuild?

I want to say I used a 10mm or 12mm wrench on the bleeder screws.

    Caliper Rebuild?

Yes, for me too! I want to say for the re build parts I was maybe in $200 for front and rear. But those Wilwoods would sure look nice behind the srt10 wheels!

    Caliper Rebuild?

I believe the only other option we have beside rebuilding them is Tony’s Wilwood brake upgrade.
