Ignition key question - yet why are house keys so easily understood?

You aren't coding the key to the PCM nor recoding the PCM, you are coding the key to the SKIM. The key itself is not programmable; what you are "programming" is the SKIM to detect new keys. Only thing that directly interacts with the PCM is the SKIM. The key is not a transponder, it does not...

Ignition key question - yet why are house keys so easily understood?

Correct. There is a process in the scan tool. The SKIM detects the chip in the key and sends a signal to the PCM to allow it to run. If you try to start a vehicle with the wrong key too many times the SKIM will lock the PCM.

Ignition key question - yet why are house keys so easily understood?

Ok so the chip in the key is picked up by the SKIM (sentry key immobilizer module). If you crack open the column, this is the module sitting right there with a ring around the key switch. Your keys are paired to the SKIM and the SKIM is what it is paired to the ECM/PCM. The actual ignition...

Rear brake caliper question - what do you think?

The only part numbers I could find for these are 68052370AA brake pad & 68052371AA caliper adapter for Grand Cherokee/Durango, so I dunno what's going on there but those are absolutely correct for an SRT-10 Ram and a steal if they are actually new.

    Regular Cabs Converted to Automatics

What I don't get is how they haven't figured this out themselves, unless they just don't care.

    Regular Cabs Converted to Automatics

Not necessarily a downgrade, especially when you get a stuck piston and have to rebuild/replace. 04 uses stock 2500 calipers painted red and are still pretty easy to get. Same 15" rotor across the years. This thing sounds like a Frankenstein's monster. Look closely at the door jamb...

Shock Absorber - what could have caused this?

They don't. 10's used Bilsteins. These can be used on regular 2wd 1500's (not the 4wd) no problem, but a standard length shock on a lowered truck is going to get bottomed out.

Shock Absorber - what could have caused this?

Most likely the wrong shock for the application. Couldn't take it forever.
