I believe the big difference is that a large amount of the stopping power of the Prius comes from the electric motors...Like on a Freight train...If the computer is acting up, I would assume the brakes and thottle would have problems...

In my experience, a standard upgrade build will run you between 3-4K installed... If hard parts need to be replaced/upgraded, then you can easily get into the 7-8K range...
