Less then 3 vin's and you are good. More then 3 Vin's in the unit and it disables. If its an X2 they are no longer supported to be "un-locked". X3's available from Torrie.

Is that due to the frame from the 2500 being used on the 1500's from 06 on>?

The SCT device is the tool used to apply the tune to your truck. You can then choose your tuner from there..or by it already loaded with basic a tune in it.
