    TV Cable

The TV cable setting is not that sensitive. However, the shift point at wot is learned by the computer. When you put a bigger TB on it, it is probably reving up faster than it used to and now it has the wrong learned shift point. Explaination: the computer commands the truck to shift at wot by...

    Another tire thread

I have 'em on my truck in 305/45-22. They are out of round and won't balance properly. Bought them from Tire Rack. The truck rides rough with them. I had them road-force balanced, and it helped a bunch but still not perfect. However, they get awesome traction. On hot dry days, on white...

    350 chevy run-on (dieseling) problem...

There are 2 types of dieseling that can occur. One is as FSTJACK says, where the motor runs on due to auto-ignition. The other is as I have experienced, and you would have to see it to believe it. My motor is a '69 LT1. It would diesel when I shut it off. While trying to troubleshoot the...

    Header/Steering Problem

You could mark the header where it needs to be dimpled, take of the header, heat it up with a torch and then dimple it where needed. The Jet Hot coating might even stay on. You could run it for a while and if in a year or so it starts to rust where the dimple is, just send that header back off...

transmission not shift in to passing gear?

So...what are you saying that it is doing or not doing? Just to be clear, our transmissions are 4 speed automatics. The gear ratios are as follows: 2.45:1 1st 1.45:1 2nd 1.00:1 3rd 0.69:1 4th There is no "passing gear" per se. That term has been around forever, but "passing gear" is...

    anyone using any Innovate logger?

On my LC-2, it likes J1850-VPW (GM). It's fast enough to log 8 or so parameters simultaneously.

Got a question about Holley Carbs...Can anybody help??

It is important to remember that idle fuel screws (or idle air screws)** only work if the throttle is closed enough to be running on the idle circuit. If you have the timing severely retarded and the idle turned up, you are likely operating in the transition circuit and/or the main metering...

    engine knock bad!!

It takes a lot of misfires before it sets a code, but it should do it if it misfires continuously. If you had an actual Dodge scan tool, you could read the misfire count live. The O2's won't set a code, but the ECM will set a code if the O2 continuously reports a rich mixture. If 4 cylinders...

Got a question about Holley Carbs...Can anybody help??

Too much carb can be made to work, it just ends up being kinda touchy. And, it's usually hard to get rid of the bog when you stand on it from idle. You end up having to put the big cc accelerator pump on it and the fast squirters. But it can be made to work. On super high revving 302 Chevys, 750...

Got a question about Holley Carbs...Can anybody help??

OK, so it's not the power valves. They open at WOT at low rpm. So, if it doesn't clear up until after 3K, then you have a different issue. This may sound stupid, but check to see that you actually put the jets back in both sides. You'd be surprised at how well will it will run with no jets...

Oil Temp & Coolant Temp - Which Is More Important?

The oil will still function as intended by the designers all the way up to around 260F. Mobil 1 doesn't actually break down until around 400F. Your coolant system will not function at 260F. So, if you oil is getting hot, it is really just thinning out a bit. If your coolant temp is getting...

    engine knock bad!!

If there were 4 cylinders not firing for 60 miles., a code would be set for misfire, a code would be set by the O2 sensors for the ridiculously rich mixture, and if there are cats in place they would be glowing bright red, and the oil level would rise above the dipstick mark, and the truck would...

Got a question about Holley Carbs...Can anybody help??

Did it ever backfire with the new power valves? Nothing kills a power valve faster than a backfire. And, you can't really tell that it won't hold vacuum by looking at it. The symtom is that it will run rich at idle and low throttle settings. A bad base gasket can cause a vacuum leak that will...

    engine knock bad!!

The easiest way to see if the noise is coming from a main bearing is to put the mechanic's stethoscope on the side of the oil pan or on the block immediately above the oil pan. The knocking sound will be fairly pronounced at those locations. Works every time. I had 2 motors with bad mains (not...
