My a/c compressior isnt turning on. I tried to search the forums and couldnt find anything. My buddy said that something got shorted out. Any suggestions would be great. thanks

drained my oil and changed the filter it was dark out so i couldnt see the color when i checked it. The next day i pulled the dipstick and the oil on it didnt appear purple at all? is it suppose to look like this the truck seems to run good? Thanks Also i wanted to change the transmission...
