Probably the white scaley crusty looking stuff?
If you wash your engine with anything harsher than dish soap and water you'll accelerate the corrosion.
Super purple or Oil Eater stuff will etch the aluminum and It'll never look good till it gets bead blasted

Yea some engine cleaners that folks like to use are a lil way too agressive..
I recommend using a 50% simple green and water solution when you clean your engine. Theres nothin better and safer for everything in the eng compartement.

YUP, I USE SIMPLE GREEN ON MY CRF250'S ALUM. FRAME AND NEVER HAD ANY PROB. EVEN IF IT DRIED. NO PROB.
