I have a truck here at work the electricians fubared the dash plastic up and it has to be replaced. I was elected to do this since I have some knowledge in the area. Well, I get the thing ready to come out and there are about 4-6 screws toward the windshield that appear to hook to the HVAC ductwork and it's keeping me from getting the dash skin off. I know the older 05 model you could remove the entire dash, then replace the skin, but these 6 screws are kicking my ass and cannot see how to get to them since the head is near the firewall and up toward the top facing opposite of me?:dontknow: Not only that but there is only a hole to get to the outer ones (2) the other four I see no way to get to them even if the windshield was out. Go through the Cowl?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Thanks for the reply bud, but that is only the A/C system and such. I need info on reomoving the dash from this ductwork.

Take the dash completly out of the truck and do it on the floor, It will save alot of pain and aggrivation. It only takes about 45 minutes to remove an 06 dash. ;)

I agree take the whole dash out. I saw something similar to what you are describing in the Gen1 trucks. A buddy needed a new dash and we took one out of a junkyard 98 or so dodge. I saw the exact same thing in that dash you are describing in the 06 dash. The solution was to undo some bolts on the sides which connected to a metal bar running the width of the truck and then remove the entire dash in one piece. It sounds like the 06 dash is a similar design.

The reason I am mentioning it is because I remember staring up through the cowling, just like you, at the screws near the windshield thinking how in the world I am supposed to get to those? After fiddling with it we had a eureka moment and realized we had to take the dash out as one piece. Made life much easier.

Well that seems like the answer I was thinking, but I tried to take these bolts out front center, both sides and it won't budge. The right side looks as if it has a hook that goes into the body of the truck around the door frame and that's not a problem, the driver side has 3 bolts and then what looks like the round head of a stud or something and I cannot find the nut on the backside to remove it freeing the dash to remove the plastic trim panel? Ugggghh!! I told them "Take this focker to the stealership", then remembered I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, why my employer so when it comes back F'd up they would say I told them take it there.

Your supposed to lift up and pull, comes right out. So simple even a dealer can do it ;)

Someone on here has to have the service manual for the 06's. I only have it for the 05. Hope this helps, I know the interior are completely different but it might be of some use.

Also, someone needs to talk to the admins on filesizes allowed. 48K max for a PDF? WTF???? That's about useless. I had to spend way to much time just to get these sized down. I started out with a 300K PDF, which is nothing really, and could not post it. Hopefully you can still read these.

Good info for 06 owners that need to remove their dash.

It did indeed help as "I was more frustrated than a one legged Ethiopian chasing a donut downhill" lmao
