How many here have experienced this? I haven't read anything really about it on this forum, though it does seem to be an old problem.

I just finished implementing the fix that I found on Cumminsforum.com..

Worked like a champ! There is nothing quite like fixing an issue that could cost $200 to have someone else perform, and it costs you literally nothing except 1.5 hrs of my life. And BTW, 1.5 hrs working on this truck is more like therapy than work. LOL

I have this problem and it drives me nuts. Do you have a link to the solution, i checked your link above which was to the Cummins site, just didn't know if you hada direct link

mine would work when it wanted to...neg batt cable was a lil loose and after I did the manual reset it was fine for a few months...now it has acted up a few times lately. :motz:

I don't know whether it was the solder reflow, or the spacers i put between the PCB and the meter housing... I also don't know if it will last. But, a lot of people have done exactly what I did, and said that they have NOT had a repeat issue. This was years ago too.

I posted the cumminsforum.com address. You can search "06 tach issues" and tons of pages will pop up. Also, instructions for dash disassembly and cluster removal are all over you tube. I can't guarantee that I can definitely help, but if you have questions, just let me know.
