12.64 Run = Lightning Kill

Thanks Rick, I really like my 390-40-17 M&H Drag Radials. I will get better once I get a line lock and really heat the tires. Right now I go around the water and just do an agressive "clean the tires" sort of burn out and then slide the clutch @ 3000 rpm and I get a slight bog then go. Full power shifts @ 6000 rpm and hope I don't miss!!!

I have the size down MH DR's and have been dumping it at 4,000 w/ no bog.....you might try a higher rpm launch "but don't know if you have a centerforce/fidenza though". I gotta check the vid again! When you say "full powershfits" do you keep your foot all the way to the floor board through the run......or let up on the throttle half way between shifts?:dontknow: I'm not too good at power shifting:eek:

Rice Eater....I'm full on the floor with the throttle and I don't let off. Yes I have the Fidanza flywheel, Centerforce clutch and Viper master and slave cyl. I got the setup from BOOMER!!!. I still have the stock shifter but with and older 60's Short Hurst Lever. I just ordered the GenIV Xmetal shifter from a member on the site and I will install soon.

trainman.....what RPM do you push in the clutch to slam the next gear? I am afraid to do this on Nitrous cause what I've heard if you miss the gear and it hits the rev limitter cutting off fuel and Nirto keeps spraying and an instant leanout/kabooom occurs??:dontknow: Any tips for powershifting?

Rice Eater....I run right up to 5900-6000, stab the clutch and jerk the lever all in one motion, its quick and I've been doing it since the late 60's ( I'm 60)! I have never had Nitrous so I don't know if the technique is a little different. All I can say is practice , practice , practice. A little tip go down the street at say 4000 rpm holding the throttle steady and try to clutch and shift all in one motion, that way you won't hit the rev limiter. Good Luck

I would HIGHLY recommend you get this technique down before you try it with nitrous involved. If you really want to do it with nitrous, run a separate fuel source, RPM windows switch, and a fuel pressure safety switch.

That way if worse comes to worse, you have a separate fuel source to add the fuel with the continuing nitrous (safety switch and window switch would have had to stop working)

Just remeber though, these motors dont like rpms in excess of 6000-6200....your playing with fire @ that point
