190-195 degree increased to 200?

hey guys, ok I just drain, flush and refill my truck everything is going pretty good and I test it heat and check for any leaks...so far no leaks but I notice that in 10 mins the temp was 190-195 degree then another 10mins later it increased to 200 degree?? my truck always was at 190-195 and never been at 200 since I bought it, is that normal or what?

Did you bleed the system of air?? There is a little valve you need to open to get all the remaining air out of the system.

If you're on the stock ECM (no flash) that's pretty normal for sitting still. I get that in traffic all the time. It'll slip passed 200 a bit before the fan really kicks in.

That’s close to normal epically if you didn't have the truck moving. Also if there was an air bubble the t-stat may have taken a little longer to open. You might try to try to find someone with an obd reader so they can give you the exact temp, the gauge is usually off by 3-4 degrees.

ok alright thanks,but i am kind of worry if i drive around my truck, would it increased temp over 200?

silvrsrt10, THANKS FOR PICS! first was hard to know where it is then second one was more clear w/ show valve cover so obivious it is on right near mobil oil cap and......everyone, i have to tell you that..... the coolant was f$%k filthy!!! since i dont have big tank for wasted fluid so i used empty big barrel of water to pour the waste fluid and i will take pics of it and u will see how pretty filthy it was!! it look like it got oil inside it, DONT GET IDEA that i pour oil in radiator!! LOL i believe it was from a first owner...geez...pix will post soon

Hey, the man wanted pics of the air bleeder valve and I delivered. I didn't know I was going to be graded on them. If I had known they were going to be scrutinized, I'd of had a nekkid woman pose pointing it out. Come to think of it, that should be a requirement from now on.

Oh BTW I was looking under the hood once and seen the air bleeder valve and didn't know what it was. So your pic cleared it up for me.

Be careful when you bleed that off tho, especially if the truck is hot.... I bet it squirts out of there pretty good. :dontknow:

I believe it's got a nipple on it that you can slip a small diameter (1/4" ??) clear silicone hose over. That way you can direct the flow down under the truck into a catch can and watch for the bubbles to stop at the same time.
