This piece of plastic was lodged under my steering shaft against the frame.
a mechanic told me it was the rack and pinion boot but I don't really think it's that, even though there is not a boot on the shaft coming out of the steering box.
Any help?:dontknow:

Yuk.....

Your truck need to stop eating prius's......

So question, do you know what it is?

That's the rubber boot that goes over your steering shaft to keep the grease on the spline and dirt out.

Ok,sounds right.I have the boot that goes around the linkage where it slides in and out coming down past the headers wrapped with heat tape, but maybe the heat transferred through the steel and has melted that.About all I can think of.

Looks to be plastic from the way it cooled. Not rubber.
Did it harden, or is it still flexable?
