1st time to the track...tips please

hey guys,
this sunday i'm going for the 1st time to the track.
any tips for the 1/4 mile ?

Drop your rear tire pressure to 23 or 24 lbs.

Chirp your street tires to get the dust off...no use doing a burnout...keep the engine as cool as possible.

Relax...be alert...first time down, don't worry about the competition or a great 60' time...get on it good but try to avoid blowing your tires off...

Get it off the line and then

Punch it and enjoy!

Start saving for a transmission rebuild...

Start saving for flash of your puter...

Start planning your choice of power adder...

Don't hot lap...if your engine is hot the cpu will pull timing and you will go slower and slower and slower...allow the engine to cool for about 30 or 40 minutes between runs.

Have a ball, and drive it like you stole it!

I will be interested to see how you run. I have the exact same mods (and those are my only mods) on my truck.

Deflate the rear tires like Prof said and inflate the fronts to 45LBs........try to pull off the line as fast as possible w/o spinning...takes practice....your time in the qtr is made in the first 60'......and dont wait on the green light...when the last orange lite comes on GO!

just remember it's your 1st time, even if you need to make a few crappy passes to get use to the track and wat it feels like - just remember to stay in the GROOOOOOOVE !


sandbag the shit out of it a few time - get use to the track - then run like it like you stole it

i hope he does better then that, i did 13.? stock. he could do 12's depending on his tire choices.

Unless he is at a very low or negative DA and highly prepped track a QC with those mods wont do much better than mid 13s..

if you can load the trq converter it will take some slack out of the driveline.

if not just pull up to the line and let her fly. i wouldnt even bother messing around with the tires, just go and have fun the first time. learn, then go back and start trying to break PRs

my tires are Conti's 305 / 45 / 22
they are on the truck now for approx. 500 miles...

i hear people say that i must break and trothle to 2200 à 2500 rpm and then slam it to the floor...:dontknow:
oh , and the truck drives on propane gas (100+ octane) , and i use the high octane tune from Roe.
from my feeling , the truck drives better than on fuel.

If you brake and throttle to the floor off the line, you'll roast the tires. Brake and throttle around 1500 - 2000 rpm and then part throottle for the first 10feet or so and then mash the gas.

hey, i have a weight modification. the right rear trim piece is off, thats like 10lbs.
