Well after a few suggestions, I am cosidering installing a lowering kit. Which is best? Mcgauhys, Ground Force or Xmetals. Also, which one requires the least amount of modifications?

The only permanent modification w/ the X-metal is cutting off the mounting bucket for the front bumpstop - don't know about the others. I'm happy with my X-metal:rock: .

This is a tough one to say.............. I think the kits out there are tops, they work great.

But a few of the 06s hve had very serious problems with vibration, Redsrt007 actually workin a ton on one, and not sure if the guy is still happy, I havent heard.

The 06s are very different from the 05s.

If you want simple and no mods, put a 1.25 spring in front, and a 2 inch lowering shackle out back, with that you should be able to keep the stock shocks, and ride would be comparable to stock.

but thats just my lil bitty opinion:D

I've already installed a 2 inch lowering shackle in the rear. It still not enough, more so now after the new wheels. It seems that the Xmetal kit comes with a shim kit to reduce or eliminate vibrations. Is this correct and how difficult is it to get it right?

Bo I really dont know, I would PM Redsrtoo7 about the problems he worked on.
From what I remember it was bottoming problems and vibrations I think, but pm Patrick to be sure, jsut dont want ya to have any problems.

If anyone else has a 06 chime in and help here.

You won't be happy with the X-Metal kit if you already went 2" in the rear and it wasn't enough because the X-Metal kit is a 2/1 kit. It will only give you 2" in the rear. I think the only good option for you to go lower than 2" is air baggin it. The ugliest part of these trucks is the massive view of the wheel wells. I hate the look. In fact, it is probably the #1 thing I dislike about the truck and there really is no good solution. Bummer.

If i had it to do it over with! I would have waited for someone to come out with a drop spindal kit. that way you will still maintain the factory ride & specs. i have x/m kit 2/2 ,it bounces in front end, and at high speeds, corning i can feel that something just is not right, the steering wheel has a 1" free play, i guess like my pops said, she dont dont stand on all 4 wheels right. and ChrisAZ, u r right about the wheel opening, looks bad all open like that.

With my McGaughys kit I have had no vibration problems that I have been hearing about with the xmetal kit. If you want to do it right the first time go with the McGaughys kit. :D

Just be patient and wait.I have it on good authority, something really nice is coming out soon !!!!!!!!

Do a search on springs / air ride ;)

It is my understanding that the Xmetal kit is a 2/4 drop. Is this correct?

Is there any problems with the McGauhys' kit? Any modifications needed?

Please take into consideration that I'm running 305/35/24 in the front which are about an inch taller and my truck is an 06.

I have just put a 1/2 on my 06 QC then left for a 15 day vacation (which i am still in :) ) - didnt get the chance to drive the thing much but here are my comments :

1) It was a Royal PITA to put the kit on with jackstands infront of my house .
2) It does vibrate at the back , but i didnt try to fiddle with it yet . But i am sure i can make it dissapear . its very slight .
3) the 1/2 kit is more like 1.5 /3 on the highest setting in the back .
4)The problem with bouncing is all in the shocks , i just ordered QA1s for it . But i am sure that the OEM will be better than the ones with the kit.
5)the front bumpstops are difficult to remove .
6) Mine didnt align to factory spec but was close enough for me , as i didnt want to drill in the front .
7) The truck looks sooo much better with it , the OEM suspension is 4x4 height , all my buddies thought it was a 4X4 when i bought the truck !!!
8) it seems the kit is well made

My advise to you is to stay with the highest kit (1/2) as the problems seem more with the lower kits .

I have installed X-metal kits on both of my trucks and love them. It is a little stiffer than stock but handles great.
