Actually.... There are some differences in years. Some will chime in later, I'm sure, but the main difference is the motor.

The 96-99 GTS (and rt-10) had the forged motors. 2000 and up were cast pistons (not so good, if you ever want to go Forced-Induction). :)

I had an '01 GTS. The 2001's and up have ABS but weaker internals. If you do a search the details between the various years were covered in length.

Usual things to check for on Vipers are curb rash on the wheels, paint scratches and pitting of the lower front facia and side sills, etc. If your serious about this car PLEASE have a Viper tech look over it. If you could let us (the forum) know where the car is we could give you some good references as to where to take it to so it can be professionally looked over.

correct....

Good news - it has abs and newer style interior

Bad news - no big cam or forged pistons. Also yellow (which is a hard car to sell in the viper community).

Best viper colors to resell (no specific order) - Black, silver, blue, white. If it has stripes, then even better....

Worst colors (as much as I hate to say this lol) - red, yellow, some greens

The 'best' year / highest resale, goes to the 99 GTS.

This is because only the 99 has forged, 708 cam, and newer interior.

Next best year is 98 - forged, 708, but no newer interior.

and lastly 96-97 Forged only

You want me to test drive it for you ???  I love that style, and the YELLOW of course !!!! Go for it Daddy BIG Bucks !!!!

i think the yellow on this car is spectacular?:dontknow:

it's nice to say the least. i also like the GenII motors, however while they are
forged i'm not sure how much more power they can take with FI compared to a
well built GenII motor :dontknow: also, loose the wing man! while it may look nice
if i ever saw one viper with a raging wing like that i think i would actually tear
up in sadness :( JMO :D

I like the yellow too!

Hmm.. I thought I saw one similar to that in AS. ? :dontknow: OH well.

A friend of mine with forged internals on a 98 I think was running 10 psi with water/meth on a Roe system. He recently changed to an SVS twin turbo setup with no upgrades internally except the rockers I think. He made 866 rwhp.

Heres a link which includes the mods to his car.

The yellow/black stripe bumblebee car is one of my top 3 favorites. For the miles on the car the price seems pretty reasonable. Just please be sure to have someone check out the car if you decide to get it. Being in Florida Doug Levin, Heffer Performance, Roe, etc could probably check it out for you.

I agree....no doubt. I think red looks great on the vipers too...

But unfortunitly other viper buys do not :dontknow: :p ...Prime example. A Heffner TT Red cant seem to sell for 88k, but a Heffner (same mods/motor/year) TT Black sold for 128k

Now if you plan on keeping it 'for the rest of your life' :D then I wouldnt worry about the color  .

Sharp, a 96-99 Gen2 can take about 900-1000 RWHP (12-15psi Max) from what most have done. a 2000+ Gen 2 can take 700-800 RWHP (5-7psi Max). As for a fully built?! Well, who knows....depends on the parts and such.

Also, the '99 and up GTS got the larger 18" wheels.

'98 and older got the 17" wheels.

This yellow GTS looks nice although personally I'm not a fan of the wing on Vipers.

Not sure I like that add-on front splitter either.:dontknow:

If you buy it - be sure to get a warranty!!

Lose the wing, and the A/C sucks in the summer! Other than that, if you got the coin cna't see any reason not to buy it!!!!

yes, the wing would have to go for sure.i just think the whole car in general is a nice clean looking ride.i don`t really care at the moment about having a million hp...just as is would work fine for me.

I'd leave the wing, just add a nice Black Stripe to it !!!!Would be great to have matching 10's !!!!

$43K for an 01 with 11K miles is a good deal as long as its in mint condition. Definitely have a Viper tech check the car out first!
