So here is the tough call....
I have a pair of trucks...one is a red 2004 with 17k on it, the other a black 2005 with 12k on it...the red one is a year older but has pretty much every option known to man on it...the black one is a year newer, but isnt as highly optioned....what do you guys think? What are the major differences in the years?

Thanks for helping out, Im migrating from the vette world!

The 05's had some improvements over the 04's.

Front brakes.
4.56 vs 4.10 gears.
Knock sensor on the engine.

I know there is more, but my mind is in work mode, not truck mode.

I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to list the rest of the differences.

Color wise, those are the two slowest colors so it really does not make a difference there.;) :D

But then, which ever one you choose you will love it.

Welcome to the forum.

The 04's did not have knock sensors and the 05's do. That's actually an advantage for the 04 if you ever build the engine and get a custom tune. The knock sensors prevent the tuner from pulling very much timing.;)

The rear gears are a wash. I have an 04 that I have now swapped to the 4.56 gears. I don't see any real improvement in the 1/4 ET with the 4.56s. The 4.10s actually seemed to pull harder at highway speed when you hit it from a roll. The 4.56s pull harder off the line (1st gear and early 2nd gear).

Get whichever truck you like best regardless of year.

Hell this is easy...keep the black one, it is fastest and best.

Welcome to the madness, come often and have a ball...

Another vote for the black one!

Black... And lots of money for carwash.

Do you not get to park indoors? I don't always get to either. I got a waterproof cover from another member here who sold out and bought a Viper and it does a great job!!

I park in my garage. Still from everday driving and braking it gets dirty.Black is the hardest color to keep clean by far. I have a red 04 QC and I wash it every two weeks or so. My SRt is once to twice a week. I also hate the brake dust on the rims.

No cover yet. I ordered one and it was on backorder for so long I cancelled it.

I gotcha. I clean my wheels every few days just so they don't get out of hand. On the days I drive it, I dust it off, then wipe it down with mist detailer and cover it.

Pull the wheels once a week...wash twice a week...probably wipe down with detailing liquid twice a week...lots of work...but hell its all I have to do...

Sounds like fun to me! My neighbors think I am crazy for drying my truck with a leaf blower. . .

Especially when I SWEEP my driveway/porches when the mowers leave . . .

Buy both of them! :D RC or QC? If I were you, I would get a black 2005. Welcome to the forum!

No skin off my back. Just tell me one thing. Do my tail pipes need polished? :D :star:

Are you talking factory options or aftermarket add-ons ? As stated earlier, there isn't that much difference in factory options. If you are comparing a lightly modded 05 to a highly modded 04,by all means get the 05 !!!!!!!!!!!!! And best of all,it's black !!!!!!! :D
